engine removel
hi all
after months of saving to get my solid white 89 t bar painted and brought back home :)it is now ready to start re-building I was wondering if they are any members in the Yorkshire area that could help me remove my engine from my scrap car on to an engine stand so I can give it a good clean and replace parts.
I can borrow an engine lift to assist I also have a trolley jack and various tools.
I am based at York

Hi Daz,
Nothing like a good project! :)
I'm down in Sheffield and would love to help, but am flat out (work, wedding to organise etc. etc. :)) until mid-February. Douglas (The Silver Fox) is up your way, and we assisted him in removing his engine the other year, so perhaps it'll be like a full circle if he is free to help you out.
If you remove all of the things that you can before the big removal day, it really is a quick process when you have a few hands to throw at it.
Good luck, and keep us updated. Pictures are always good! :D
Cheers,
Tom

I've met Douglas a couple of years back had a chat and a quick cuppa whilst looking at his mk1a .I've looked at my engine a couple of times thinking where do I start lol never ever done one before bit worried I'll take parts off and forget were they go when it goes back in :o... my uncle helped me strip some parts off my donar car to many trim bits that could of stayed on the scrapper now ive a garage full of bits and not much of a clue where they go ....oh dear me
plenty of pictures tom need to work out how to get them on here ...

anytime mate I'm off work till the new year now:) hoping to get some work done on the car whilst I'm off appreciate any help unfortunaly no experience of taking a engine out its in my red donor car, I need to get it out and on to the engine stand so I can tidy it up before I put it in the white one :D

ok, are you aware that the engine will have to come out from underneath without dismantling it and a lot of jiggling? an engine crane might not be the most helpful as i don't think they have a long enough chain to get it below the car. Im not sure how most people get them out without a lift or pit.

might after do that with mine Douglas is it easy to do ? my concern is taking parts off then forgetting where it goes on the rebuild

I think most of it can only go on in a certain way. But if you're worried just take stacks of photos so you can go back to them
