Silverstone Social Sunday 13th November.

I am organising a trial Classic Car meet and decided to pin point Silverstone area as everyone knows where Silverstone is! I've been a bit disappointed with the lack of MR2/Toyota meets in my area since buying my MK1 at the start of this year- so much so that I bought a second car- an old Audi because there seems to be more of an Audi community in my area of the country and its given me more of a social side. I initially was organising a Classic Audi meet before deciding why not make it open to all types of cars. I am going to bring my MK1 as well as my Audi so there will be at least one other MR2 there if anyone would like to attend. If it goes well then I will make it a regular meet next year.

Thanks Tom, be nice to drum up a bit of MR2 interest in this area. I like to think I have done a good job of single handedly flying the MK1 flag in this area as I've taken mine to loads of classic events over the summer and its got a fair bit of interest and every single time its been the only one at the whole show. There is a regular evening one in Northampton (pictured above) that gets 1000+ cars attend and I bought my MK1 to nearly every single one they ran this year.

Great idea , would be happy to support, but you might want to reconsider the date as it clashes with the lancaster classic car show weekend at the NEC , so will be there .

Thank you- ah dam it thats a shame you cant make it.

I think what ever weekend it is always going to clash with something. The main obstacle I had was making sure it was clear of any Silverstone events as the venue is right near the circuit. Its all been arranged with the pub and advertised on various facebook pages now so it will not be changed but hopefully there will be a calendar of regular meets for next year which hopefully you will be able to make.

Its this coming Sunday. I have a few MK2 MR2's coming along. Be nice to get at least another MK1.

Well it was a great weather and a great turn out for the meet- 16 cars and around 30 people. It was a real mixture of cars which is great. No other MK1's other than mine but thats something to work on. I did however get MR2's off other MR2 related sites turn up. One MK2 came all the way from Kent! I've had alot of good response and alot of people asking when the next one will be. I am working on a calendar for next year which I will keep updated on here. There is also now a designated Facebook page- Silverstone Social Classic Car Meet.
