    New MR2 Owner...

Hello, my name is Simon, I just picked up a MK1 MR2 (85) this past Saturday, it's in fairly good shape and I talked the couple selling it down to $1200 so I think it was a good deal. Here are a few pics.

Plans are to make it a track day/race car.

that looks like it will be nice track car. the 1a's i prefer on track, as they seem to rev more freely (different ecu mapping than the 1b)
What are your plans for the car? leave it as it is, or any upgrades?

where are you based? i guess USA somewhere?....

I am not sure exactly yet. I know I want to put coilovers and new suspension on the car first then probably just some minor bolt ons for the motor. I am decided if I just want to do track days or race it wheel to wheel. I am in the US, I can race it in one class with the SCCA called ITB which is Improved Touring B, Improved Touring is a limited prep class, you can do suspension work, minor engine work, roll cage, other safety equipment, that's about it.

coilovers are a bit pricey over here, so most people replace suspension with konis or KYB's ans 30mm lowering springs.
just a brake pad upgrade and braided lines is often fine for stopping power, plus exhaust and air filter upgrades for track/race.
then just remove some weight from the car, buckets seats, harness and cage then added
