    Hello from Swansea!

Hi, my name is Dafydd and I am from Swansea in South Wales. I got my first MR2 about 4 years ago and have since had about 10 of these awesome little cars.

These days I am a company director of a classic and sports car sales (will not name as I am NOT trying to advertise my company) opperating out of my home and advertising online. I specialise in the Mk1 MR2, Ford XR and RS, and also VW Gti's and the sort. Also make some decals for cars and keyring that I sell online.

My favourite thing about the mk1? Probably the drive and handling, but there is so much more to love! Love the styling, engine, it's just fun!

Looking forward to doing a trackday at some point in my Mk1, was a little scared by the look of the Angelsy circuit as it is so close to the sea! Looked scary!

Looking to become an affiliate of the club as soon as you have time to consider this.

    Buy for now!

Thanks for your post. Our Local Area Organiser Peter Scatchard, whose contact details in the back of the Magazine, arranges about 4 track days each year at Castle Combe. I always go & they are great fun.

Also there are other track days that appear in our forum from time to time. Good to hear from you. Please keep in touch.

Hello and welcome! Your outfit rings a bell... think I've seen the website at some point.

Do you own or drive any MR2s yourself?

    Hiya Daf

    welcome to the forum

you just missed an mr2 trackday at Anglesey. it was ace!
Actually i think its one of the best circuits for the mk1 mr2 in the country, and i've driven the mk1 around most. (cadwell comes second but scary lack or runoff, then Oulton)
As the new circuit has been purpose built there is a really wide track with plenty of runoff. it has a few good layouts to try too.

Keep an eye in the motorsport and trackday section for other days, and i'm happy to offer any track day advice or track car prep etc.

Crazylegs Kev and myself will be sorting out the affilaites scheme over the next few weeks so will get in touch when we have more info for you.

Hey guyes, thanks for the welcome. I will keep an eye open for some more trackdays on the forum.

Would be cool to hear back about the affilate scheme, as I deal so much with these cars and would like to get involved with a club.

Handsom Rob, got a Mk1b in Super White with just under 61,000 miles at the moment. Not using it now as it's out of tax and I have got a few other cars to use which are taxed. Photos:

You may have seen my website, but I dont think it's very well know yet, unfortunatly.

Do you need to rent any special safty equipment like helmets when you do a trackday?

    Thanks for the welcome all!

you will need a helmet, so you can either bring one or hire one.
i do weekend work with bookatrack and we hire pretty clean helmets for £10
Most trackday organisers or circuit staff will insist on you wearing covered arms and legs. other than that there are no special safety requirements apart from wearign your seatbelt or harness. the only other thing i can think is you have to have a full roll cage to run slicks, thats all.
the car needs to be MOT'd (taxed or trailerd) or race scrutineered/passed if its not mot'd for race cars.

the mk1 is pretty ace as a value for money track car, as theres not much out there rwd that will challenge you for the same money.
you can also give other cars a good run such as elises or caterham types if the drivers aren't 'on it' as such
