    Ahoy! Youngster from 'oop north!

Ahoy, just thought I'd introduce myself to y'all, been having a quick browse round the site and its a great resource!

I'm Nev, i'm 19 and from Yorkshire. I've got a 1988 MK1b called Lolita, in a fetching red colour. Shes got 150,000 miles on the Odometer but still going strong. She's currently rolling on some VW Corrado BBS wheels, 15x6.5 with some 5mm spacers on the back. She's pretty rot free all in all, rear arches have been done (but previous owner dented one ), o/s front wing is totally shot but I bagged an ebay bargain one for £20, has been painted and is just waiting to be fitted. I've done a bit of welding on her but otherwise not alot- i've done on average 2500 miles a month since purchase and she hasn't put a foot wrong. The exhaust started blowing on Sunday so I'm on the lookout for a new system (preferably single box with a bit of a growl!).
    Pictures of Lol:

I may aswell introduce you to the rest of the fleet whilst I'm here:

1985 Volkswagen Polo "Anna", Project racecar. Was a 2 owner minter with only 14,000 miles on when purchased but she's now in pieces. I have a Supercharged 1.3 G40 engine sat waiting to go in but I'm considering using a 4AGE instead! Just awaiting the cage to be fitted at the moment.

She was a minter, not one bit of rust ANYWHERE!

1983 Volkswagen Polo 1093cc "Mr. Motivator/The Green Machine". This was bought so i didn't have to get the bus back from London last year. I was driving a Slammed Sierra (on orange dayglow wellers) which was truly shocking, so i needed something to get back from london in. I went to Portsmouth and bought this for £300 notes. Rolling on a 90/70mm drop, it handles like a gokart. Other mods include 1 bucket seat and a clutch that doesn't slip! Actually the most fun car i've owned. I prefer bombing round in this more than the MR2 but its rubbish as a daily!

    Currently SORN'd and still awesome.

1985 Austin Mini City 998cc "Oddie". This was my first car, and i still own it. Granted, I've only been driving 3 years, only sold one car and I've owned six (technically seven but that got cut in half as a donor on the guys drive!). But anyway, this was a lovely car. 998cc engine with ported head, posh cam, better filter, better shocks and buckets. It had been restored previous to me to a very high standard and was completely rust free. Unfortunately it appeared to be a magnet for other cars, being crashed into on more than one occasion. Eventually some idiot in a Micra decided that they would not slow down for a junction and i happened to be in the way.
    Before:

    After:

1979 Datsun 280ZX. I got given this by a friend. It is so incredibly rusty but a runner, a good runner infact. For a 1979 car it has amazing technology: Multipoint injection, electric windows, electric headlight washers, systems check on dashboard, pretty much everything electirc. Red valour interior too. Floor is very rusty, leaks alot.

Rides of christmas past, Slammed MK1 Sierra "The Failboat":

The donor G40 that got cut in 2 on the sellers drive:

Hope you enjoyed that, its been fun so far!

    Nev.

Welcome! Lovely looking mk1 and some good pics

I used to drive a couple of mk3 Polo coupes in the past so they brought a smile also!

    Thanks for the welcome guys!

Yeah, the Mini was good fun but, as i'm sure you're aware it was a complete money pit that never worked properly for a space of 2 weeks or so. I'm a complete car whore really, some days i'll be in love with the MR2 and other days i'm ready to sell up and get the Green Machine going again. It really is like a gokart is the Polo; just to give an idea of how low it is, the roofline is lower than the MR2s and if you sit in, your eye line is roughly in line with engine cover!

My Mini was a money pit too - it got to the stage where I was on first name terms with the local AA breakdown crew! To be fair, it was a highly tuned 1330 and I was doing 70 miles a day in it.............

Well- it was our stand, we had a school type class register on the chalk board! It was infront of bodie&doyle's BMW 2002 + Wartburg Knight.

The Polo got in retro cars mag too (the 2nd edition of the new one) all stickered up with insulation tape. Good times.
