I am Matt (Boyzdad, long story) I have a 1987 Black Mk1a, at the moment, she hates me

However, I still like her (I would only put up with a female giving me this much cr*p!), and once my replacement engine is fitted I hope to be out and about again!

I am in the Coventry area, am a club member, do all the work on my car myself, not really through choice!

Although I do quite like working on my car (a garage would make it much nicer!), if she would give me at least 5000 miles between engine failures/replacements, I would be happier!

For my work I run a business from home involving in electronics/software (control systems). I am a trained mechanical/electronics engineer (LONG time ago now!) and have been involved in maintaining cars since I was was about 10!

When I eventually get my MR2 sorted (or am I dreaming?) I intend to fit a Megasquirt ECU.

I also have a Dolomite Sprint (she hates me too!) and thought I would get another (my 1st one rusted away) MK1 MR2 as a more reliable daily driver......hmmmmm

My Son Jack, is also involved with MR2's (Mk1's naturally) and came to with me when we had the MR2 on the stand at the NEC in 2008. He is an avid collector of models/brochures etc.

I've always liked your black mk1... I'd love to get hold of a decent black one eventually! Good luck with the reliability issues
