Wanted : v6 or very good standard mk1

As this is my first adventure into MR2s is there anyone local to Uxbridge or Reading that can take me for a spin in either a standard mk1 or a v6 to help me narrow down if standard is quick enough ? Or too under powered ?

I'm in Harrow mate, would take you in a spin and you can have a drive if you want as well. Mine's got a few mods, coilovers, shortshifter and air intake.

They did not come as standard with a V6, therefore it is non standard. It is also quite an expensive modification and the MK1 has only recently started to increase in price. If you have a problem many garages will not touch it so you need to do your own maintenance or take it to one of the MR2 specialists.
Mr Chaiman Tom has a turbo and a V6 and both of them have had problems over the years

To be frank, you don't really need much more power. A Supercharged manual in white would be my dream car!

I will definitely need a specialist to keep on top of the maintenance as I am not that handy. I need to weigh that up against a standard mk1.

A standard mk1 is approaching 30 years old, will any competent garage be able to maintain it ?
Or do I need some old boy who has worked on these before and knows these well ?

Any recommendations for garages in Uxbridge/ Reading way. I didn't see anything on the forum.
