Toyota MR2 Mk1 1989 Yellow - 111k miles - £795 ono - ** SOLD **
Hi all,
I’m slimming down my fleet and so have for sale my banana yellow car! This car was my daily driver for nearly 8 months and did me a great service, but since I got my V6 it has seen very little use and has been stored off the road since the MOT lapsed last summer.
Basic details are below:
111,382 miles
Registered late November 1989, so one of the later ones
Positives
- New radiator
- New alternator
- New battery
- Short shifter kit fitted
- Nice and original
- B pillars and sills appear good
- Bright and different colour – turns heads (also changed on the log book)
- Original stereo in working order
Negatives
- Bouncing idle – I’ll try to bleed the coolant before the sale, which should resolve this
- Damage to driver’s seat bolster
- No MOT – hasn’t failed an MOT, but was just left to lapse as I was using my new car
- Bottom of A pillars are a bit crusty, but there is metal there
- A few bits and pieces needed to finish off the interior
- Has 3 aftermarket alloys and 1 standard one
- No service history before my ownership
- Was broken into, so has had some replacement glass, fitted professionally. However, I only noticed today that the steering column is slightly twisted (or at least the cowling is). The car drove fine, but I will take this into account with the price (they can be picked up from eBay for under £30 delivered)
- Slight nod of the gear stick in 5th, but it doesn't pop out, so never bothered me too much
So, all in all, it’s never going to be a show queen, but would make someone a great daily driver or tinkering project.

Any inspection welcome.
£795 ono.
The car is based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
Any questions, just ask.
Cheers,
Tom
