Looking at Mk1's for my other half.

Hi I'm new to the forum and am currently looking for a mk1 for my othe half who currently owns a mk3.
I own a mk2 honda crx vtec and have got the other half hooked on the classic look of the mk1 mr2 and wants one now.

I've been doing loads of research and am now looking for a nice example.

I've see this one on eBay and would like to see if this is a known car on here ? I know from the crx community buying from Bedford can be asking for trouble.

anyone know of this car? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=221557585771

    cheers
    Andy

just phoned the dvla and it's on a trade V5 at the moment. Sent a list of questions inc import documents which should hopefully have the mileage on first import Etc just in case it's had a speedo conversion.
it seems too good to be true at that price as they normally are £1k more.

This particular car has been subject to a couple of threads this year & belonged to a forum member a few years ago...

    many thanks !
as soon as I had seen the Bedford location alarm bells started ringing, real trouble in that area with crx's being bought cheap and sold high, but also losing history, copying adverts, quick repair jobs etc .
speedo stopped working at 80k which explains the MOT history and a fail due to excessive tyre wear with very little miles put on between a certain year.

no comments on the rust in the links on here either.

a shame cars get into the hands of people out to make quick cash, it plagues the crx community at the moment.

No probs Andy. Not all people out that way are out to rip others off, I know there is a trustworthy MR2 MK1 garage in Biggleswade that my mate swears by for all work on his MK2 Scirocco. And to be fair to the seller, its not his fault the guy he bought it off wanted to sell it so cheap. What it does tell you is that if you went to see it & decided to buy then you have a lot of negotiation room... i.e. emphasize the rust, non standard wheels etc & then hit him hard & low.

If I were you, for peace of mind, I would be seriously considering Garys white one.

I know not all sellers are like that and peice of mind would be better as I'll be the one maintaining it lol, my girlfriend doesn't want to buy something that has a hidden past and come back to bite my time and her money.

what's Gary's user name so I can look at it ?

Andy, it isn't a supercharger but if Gary is selling, then it's an honest buy with no strings and it'll be a great car without doubt. I believe he is replacing the rear arches before he sells so will definitely be a good buy.
