Silverstone Classic 2014 - Warning pic heavy!

Firstly RIP to Denis Welch who lost his life driving a 1960 Lotus 18 on Sunday Very sad news.

    Now...

To anyone who hasn't been to the Silverstone Classic: get your arse there next year!

It was THE best motorsport event I've ever been to. The racing is fantastic - millions of pounds worth of beautiful classics being driven flat out! The static displays were the best I've ever seen. The Ferrari owners club stand was just incredible, as was the Maserati, Aston, Jaguar, Lotus, BMW etc etc. More car porn than I've ever seen before! I have got over 3GB of photos! I'll try and post some of them up in some sort of order! Sorry if some of the photos are bad quality, I borrowed my sisters SLR and it was my first time using one so I was a photography noob!

Definitely will be going next year. Hopefully I'll be taking my MR2 and doing a parade lap for the 30th anniversary.

The funny thing is I said to my wife as we were walking to the circuit: "As these cars are worth so much, the racing probably wont be that great as the drivers will probably be scared of smashing their 'pride and joys' which in some cases will be in excess of £1million." So we walk up the bank, the circuit comes into view, and what do we see:

    Jet Super Touring Car Trophy

This was a personal favourite of mine. You could hear it all the way around the track and seemed to be louder than all the other touring cars put together, and probably louder than the F1 cars too! The 1973 Ford Capri RS3100. An absolute beauty!!!

Right I still have a lot more racing photos but I guess everyone is bored so I'll post some highlights of the static displays now. There was soo much to see and so many beautiful amazing cars that at some points I didn't know where to look. Even without the great racing, the displays from the car clubs were truly amazing. Usually at a car show you'll see one or maybe two of a certain car. Here there seemed to be 10+ of everything!

I'll start with the best looking car first!

Ferraris as far as the eye can see!!!

    Astons

    Jags

    Lotus

    BMW

    Cobra!

    Stratos

    Stags

    Abarth X1/9

    Amazing hotrod/drag cars!

These are just a fraction of the photos I have, and all the photos I have are only a fraction of whats actually there! I can't emphasise how much is there to see!
