Hi all,

We’re pleased to announce the availability of tickets to this year's Silverstone Classic!

For the second year running, this has been chosen as the Club Event of the Year, as we think it encompasses an excellent car show, alongside a phenomenal array of priceless race cars thrashing around Britain’s foremost race circuit. Furthermore, the pits are fully open, so you can really get a feel for what goes on in-between and during the races.

We have a plot of 25 cars available to us, with the possibility of expansion if necessary. This really is a world class car show with one of Europe’s largest outdoor classic and sports car displays. It’s a fantastic way to meet new members and fellow enthusiasts and also experience some real motorsport.

Check out an example of the race grids involved over the 3 days!

National Paddock:
  • Historic Formula Juniors (Pre '64)
  • Stirling Moss Trophy for Pre '61 Sports Cars
  • Classic Formula 3 ('71-'84)
  • Under 2 Litre Touring Cars (U2TC)
  • Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy for Historic Cars (Pre '63 GT)
  • Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy for Pre '56 Sports Cars

International Paddock:
  • FIA Masters Historic Formula One ('66-'85)
  • Mustang Celebration Trophy (Pre '66)
  • Chopard International Trophy For Pre '66 GT Cars
  • The Super Touring Car Trophy ('70-'99)
  • HGPCA Pre '66 Grand Prix Cars
  • HGPCA Pre '61 Grand Prix Cars
  • FIA Masters Historic Sports Cars ('62-'74)
  • Group C Endurance

In some cases, we're talking about grids of cars worth millions of pounds each, being driven to their limits!

Alongside the car show and the racing from 9am until 9pm, there is so much else to get involved in. There are also live concerts on the Friday and Saturday nights. Previous acts have included The Hollies, Stars From The Commitments, Adam Ant, Mike and the Mechanics, Suzi Quattro, 10CC, Wishbone Ash, The Yardbirds, Dr Feelgood, Santana, The Pussycat Dolls, plus plenty of tribute bands to some of rock’s greatest bands.

There were several people that attended last year for the first time and it was beyond their expectations!

As a car club, we have been offered a great ticket promotion that gives us 2 for the price of 1! Please see the breakdown of the various ticket options below:

(two tickets) Until 31st March 2014 1st April – 31st May 2014
Friday £39 £45
Saturday £60 £65
Sunday £55 £60
2 Day Fri/Sat £70 £80
2 Day Sat/Sun £80 £90
3 Day Fri/Sat/Sun £95 £110
** Remember, the above prices are for 2 tickets **

There will also be a £3 charge per booking (not per ticket) to cover administrative charges of both Silverstone and postage costs to ourselves. eg. 1 x 3 day ticket = £98 or 2 x Sunday only ticket = £113. This has increased a little bit from last year, but they’ve basically included the previous administration charges into the ticket price.

Of course, you’ll get best value if you book with us before the end of March.

The best way (in my opinion) to make a proper weekend of this event is to camp at the Woodlands campsite. This way you’re on-site for the whole weekend and can really enjoy the show even more! It’s good to have a base and we always have a fun time socialising in the evenings, discussing all things Mk1!

Details of the camping can be found below:

The campsite will be open from 7am on Thursday 24th July until 12 noon on Monday 28th July and tickets are valid for the whole period.

• Adult weekend camping - £49 p.p.
• Child (6-16) weekend camping - £16.50 p.p.
• Child (5 and under) weekend camping – Free
• Weekend Electrical Hookup - £64.50

Pricing is per person and all vehicle types are welcome, including cars, campervans and motorhomes. Whilst there is no formal restriction on pitch size, please keep your pitch to a reasonable size to ensure there is enough room for everybody. Those booking a Weekend Electrical Hookup will be given an approx. 8m x 8m pitch size, and there is a dedicated area for larger motorhomes.

A few of us will be there from the Thursday night, so please don’t be worried about camping alone. The facilities are excellent and the cars that park up in the campsite begger belief at times! Being woken up to the sound of V8 drag cars, Ferraris, TVR’s and lots of various classics is something special indeed.

For those not wanting to camp, there are a couple of regular Mk1 club attendees that stay in a B&B locally, which is priced at £35 per person per night.
