So you tried selling the car TWICE unsuccessfully, then put the price UP by 50% and sold it to a dealer!

Blimey! I bet that has not happened very often!

Haha well I haven't had the money yet it is true but I am in no rush. It will be at 4 Star Classics soon for £6995 The last one sold for over £6000 there and this one is lower mileage and rust free in, some would say, the best colour. I doubt you'll ever see the likes of it again given it was in a Carcoon for 17 years. Go and have a look and judge for yourself

My absolute mint 1987 T-bar in red with black leather must be a bargain then at £5000. It's "brianuk" car that he spent £20k+ restoring. It's on youtube if you search "Toyota mr2 mk1b t-bar restoration". If anyones interested send me a message and i'll get back to you, thanks, John

Last year there was a beautiful white Tbar with 3000 original miles for sale! I think it went for about 7k in the end. That was a bargain!

It looks like there's a gulf between absolutely pristine and A1 condition in terms of price. Of course I'm not saying it's a bad thing to make £5k + off a spotless MR2, but you can get a similar one on ebay for 2k.

As what happened to the Starion, dealers and classifieds advertising them for what they believed they were worth - about £4 grand, and they sat on ebay for years - and then private sellers claiming 'these go for £4k'. It really pushes the price up massively.
