I have a generic insurance question: how can insurance companies justify putting the cost of insurance up depending on where you live?

My 206 hdi went from 406 to 567 as I told them i've now moved house. The district of my town falls under a high risk area, even though I live in a neighbour hood watch area, the car is locked in my own garage, which is integrated in my property, alarm, immobiliser and the house and garage are both alarmed.

    It's disgusting

I do 8000 miles a year and for 10 hours 5 days a week my car isn't even at home!! Why isn't my house insurance astronomical?

I currently have my mr2 insured with Flux Direct, but can you give me a price for when I move my car from my parents house to my new house? I know it'll mean cancelling the insurance, but I want to see what you can do for me

    Statistics, claims loss ratios.

The insurers my company work with go down to the last digits on postcodes.

You may present the perfect risk , but that doesn't mean the person living next door to you has also put themselves down as a perfect risk but had their car stolen.

Can I ask you a question?

You are looking to insure two cars, both parked on the street. One in Bradford, one in Truro in Cornwall, which one are you going to put the higher price on?
