National Event of The Year - The Silverstone Classic - 26th to 28th July 2013

    Hi all,

Please have a good read through the below information.

This event is going to be the Club's national event of the year and is an excellent thing to be part of! From Group C Le Mans racers to 1960's F1 Cars, 1980's British Touring Cars, rock concerts, aerial acrobatics shows and one of the largest collections of classic and performance cars in the world!

    • The world’s biggest classic motor racing festival.
    • One of our clubs best supported events of the year.
    • Access to all areas including grandstands and paddocks.
    • Evening rock concerts Friday and Saturday! - Music line up includes The Hollies, Floyd Reloaded, The Guns N Roses Experience, Bootled Zeppelin and The Ultimate Eagles!
    • One of our members cars representing the club in the Classic AA Grand Tour with presentation lap of the Silverstone circuit.
    • Car clubs anniversary celebrations for Aston, Lamborghini, Porsche 911 and Corvette.
    • The atmosphere, the non-officious way it’s conducted, the wonderful cars, the entertainments, the trade stands – just great.

Entry tickets available to the club at the special favourable prices are only available if booked before 31st March 2013 and an increased price up to 31st May 2013 as follows:-

** Two entry tickets for the price of one + one infield/stand car pass. **

    • Infield display area for our club .
    • Access for club members to dedicated, fully equipped camp site adjacent to the track at a preferential rate per person per 4 nights (£43 per person for up to 4 nights - Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday). Alternative nearby site available on per night rate or if you prefer, a B&B is available at a pub in Towcester for £35 per night. The camping can be booked at a later date to buying your tickets, which should help to spread out the cost if required.

Tickets prices shown below are the same as last year.

Ticket prices - for TWO tickets!

    (two tickets) Until 31st March 2013 1st April – 31st May 2013
    Friday £35 £40
    Saturday £50 £55
    Sunday £45 £50
    2 Day Fri/Sat £60 £70
    2 Day Sat/Sun £70 £80
    3 Day Fri/Sat/Sun £80 £95

As you can see, the earlier you book, the better the deal!

All tickets are subject to a booking fee & credit card fee ( £8 last year ). However, this is split between the tickets when we book them.

Payment can be done by PayPal, cheque or bank transfer. Details of which can be provided when you join up to the club.

We regret if only one member attends without a passenger, the price will still be as shown above. However, you will still receive two tickets so can invite friends for the separate days.

After 31st May tickets will still be available but at a further increased general public price and per person. Unfortunately, you will be unable to park your car on the club stand if booked after 31st May.

Please note, entrance to the 2013 Silverstone Classic is by advance ticket only. It will not be possible to buy tickets on the day.

*** If you want to take advantage of this offer, you have to be a fully paid up member of the MR2 Mk1 Club. You can join and pay via PayPal by clicking on Upgrade Membership at the top of the forum, or you can contact me and I'll provide you with alternative payment details (Cheque, standing order etc.). Joining only costs £10 and you are saving up to nearly £100 on this event alone, so it's a veritable bargain!***

Once you have joined, you will have access to another area on the forum, where more information and payment details can be found.

More information of the event can be found on their comprehensive website:
    http://www.silverstoneclassic.com

I hope that this event will prove to be very successful for the club. I have attended it twice before and have loved every minute of it! You have un-rivalled access to the pits and have practically no restrictions on where you can sit in the grandstands. There is racing from dusk until dawn each day and the cars you see in the camp site betters most normal car shows!

** We already have 16 cars in attendance, which should make it a great show! **

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have.

    See you all there!

    Cheers.

I had my email from Ken Salmon (sorry ken haven't replied yet) and will be in atttendance I hope again this year. I can't actually afford tickets until the end of the month sadly

I might be bringing four other friends, so i'd require 3 off BOGOF tickets. Unfortunately I may not be able to bring the MR2 and my other friends do not own MR2s either - is that going to be an issue?

    Hi Alex,

To take advantage of the offer you'll have to become a paid member of the club and you'll also have to sign up 2 of your friends, which will then enable you to buy 3 BOGOF tickets. It's not an issue if you can't show a car on the stand; Ken will just have to take a note of the fact.

Get in touch with me if your friends don't want to sign up to the forum to join and I can sort out their memberships directly.

    Look forward to catching up!

    Cheers,
    Tom

My two mates said they'd become members. Neither will have an Mr2 though. Can I send through the money Saturday or Sunday? Can you deal with me with their memberships or can you make up some usernames?

    Cheers
