Welcome to Rinzler. The Irish bunch are very friendly and welcoming, Mark was very very helpful when I bought my SC from Kerry. I met up in a small town for dinner and compared cars. I will find out where the photos are and post some up of the two cars together.

However, Mark is right, the Irish lot are brilliant and friendly but so are we, on the other side of the Irish channel. One day I dream of all of us getting together, either in ireland or just over here. One day!
LOL your right kate... took the eye off the ball on that one LOL missed it completely
hopefully one day we might manage to get a group of us to go over there and meet up with a load of you over there..
    fingers crossed kate

    Thanks alpha13 and kateg28!.

It is great to see these cars being so well cared for and loved by great people!. Would be awesome to meet up!.

My 89 is undergoing a full restoration at the moment which includes getting the engine restored and painted as well!. I will try and get pics up into the garage section here as soon as I can, have to get a new cable for my camera to upload them to my computer.

I tried finding the actual specific colour name for it, I think it's sly blue, I have seen a couple here on the garage very very close to mine. So maybe you guys know the specific name for it. There's probably numerous variants of that blue out there?.

I also have an 88mk1b white one as well!. Needs allot of love but she will rise and be beautiful once more!.

The 89 came with nearly every single receipt inc the original sales documents from the showroom, servicing records, plus the original owners manuals, leaflets like the suspension leaflets, what fuel and oil to use plus the original Toyota travel manual stating recommended garages by Toyota if out traveling etc, plus all the tax discs and m.o.t. certificates, only failed one m.o.t. for something silly few years ago according to the previous owners notes that also came with the car. I was truly overwhelmed by the history that came with the car as it tells the cars story and I appreciate that.

alpha13 never saw a yellow MR2 before, was that original or was it changed to that?. Looks a really nice one, have you had the car long?.

Oh Kateg28 had a browse at yours too, super nice also!. Great to see such beautifully restored MR2's here!. They totally deserve that kind of love and attention.

I doubt it is called sly blue....

If you meant sky blue then it is officially called light blue pearl (I think) but everyone knows it as Helios blue. Google Helios blue mr2 and look at the pictures.

It is a lovely colour for them.

Despite what people say, Helious Blue isn't a Toyota colour, it's VW colour.
It could either be 8G2 (Ice Blue Pearl) or 8B8 (Light Blue Metallic) The paint code is on the VIN plate in the front boot.

In the bottom circle, the first 3 characters, the example shown is 3E5 (Super Red)
Black is not a colour ! .... Its the absence of colour

hi rinzler. no my car was originally white. but it was painted and upgraded so to speak in japan. i imported it a few years back and have it no 4 and a half years it is a very early supercharger model and one of the cross over mk1a/mk1b model mk1b that has some bits of a and b making it even more unique in my opinion...and extra special to me lol
kates mr2 is a lovely one indeed... i seen it when she collected it over here... gorgeous car.. and one that will be well looked after and appreciated by kate too you could tell straight away when you meet her

Hi alpha13, so it's an early supercharged model, sweet, have to say I have never seen a yellow one, it looks the ticket, a few wee personal touches here and there is what adds personality to the car making it unique to the owner!. It looks a lovely example, is this your first MR2 or have you had ones before?.

Yep Kates MR2 looks stunning!, I really like that colour!.

I've had my white one 6 years and the blue one I got this year, the white one needs a serious amount of work, it's being more a less rebuilt from the ground up. Hence the amount of time spent on it and when I can afford parts, but I know the white one can be brought back to her former glory. I just live and breathe these cars, I may not be an expert on them, you guys would know way more than me, but I have a passion for these cars and I enjoy learning new things about them that I didn't know previously. I have skimmed through some posts on the forums which have provided some new insights into the cars themselves I didn't know and getting to read some of the members journeys in restoring their cars has also been a joy to read!.

I fell in love with my MR2 and adore the colour. When it is shiny and clean it is utterly beautiful. It does spend most of it's time wrapped up in a ventilated car port with a proper cover on and a battery conditioner. A very cosseted car.

You ought to post a thread as you restore your white one so we can watch it and maybe sometimes offer help and advice along the way. These types of threads always go down well.

If yours is like mine then yes it's known most commonly as Helios Blue. Mine isn't very stunning at the moment (See http://www.mr2mk1club.com/showthread.php?14567-Bump!).
