Each year the MR2OC organise a large and popular convoy of MR2s through the Blackpool illuminations. It's a brilliant event and now as I'm regional rep over there and an active member on here I would like to extend the invite to you guys. It would be brilliant to see a number of cars flying the flag for the MK1s. See below for a copy of the thread I have posted on the MR2OC.

It's finally time, this is one of our biggest and much awaited events...
Welcome To The Blackpool Illuminations Convoy.
This meet has been a big annual event since long before Brian and myself where at the helm and by popular demand we are continuing the long standing tradition and well tread path.(plus it takes no brain power to copy ideas from previous years)
We have cars traveling from far and wide each year forming a massive exotic convoy along the golden mile.
Heads turn, fingers point and faces light up at the spectacle of shiny Japanese metal snaking it's way down Blackpool's famous coast steeling the attention of kids and adults alike away from the illuminations themselves.

Meeting point - Mc Donalds Car Park - FY4 2RP - 19:30 to set off at 20:00
We're going to have to balance this finely to give everyone chance to arrive, drive leisurely through the illuminations, but also get to the destination in time to eat.
For now I will ask everyone to be ready to set off at 20:00 but this may change subject to me ringing ahead.
The Drive
From the meet point we will drive to the coast and along the golden mile as a leisurely pace taking in the illuminations.
Clicky - Short 20min drive along the illuminated coast
The Destination - Bispham Kitchen - FY2 9HW
Traditionally the drive finishes outside the Bispham kitchen. A tried and tested chippy serving great traditionally chippy food and great cakes. Also, given the whether on the coast in October is not usually the friendliest the eat in sit down chippy is a welcome refuge from the chilly sea wind and usually sideways rain
Moby Dick and Chips
The north west is becoming well known for our big appetites, and the Bispham Kitchen is not going to let us down. The moby dick and chips has become as much a tradition as the Blackpool run itself.
...And if you don't think that will fill you up, ORDER TWO!
Finally if you've any room left, there are some mouth watering cakes to choose from
