    Kilbroney 2012

The club attended the Kilbroney Show in Rostrevor today and to my delight we had a good turn out of 9 cars, thanks to all who made the effort.
We also had the pleasure Richard Brett our club chairman and Mike Savory joining us .Although the weather was not so kind to us i think we all enjoyed the day and the company of all and as we say THE CRAIC WAS MIGHTY

When the spirits are low, when the day appears dark, when work becomes monotonous, when hope hardly seems worth having, just get in your MR2 and go out for a spin down the road, without thought on anything but the drive you are taking."

Yes was a great days craic at Kilbroney and was good to meet all the crew especially Richard and Mike who had made the long journey over for the show. They have definately put bad ideas in my head, Richard's V6 conversion is definately some 'yoke' Looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

Yes Glenn i think everyone enjoyed the day and i know Richard and Mike definitely did.
They came up to my house on Sunday and myself and Roberta took them out for the day showing them a few sites as well as taking in the Titanic experience exhibition in Belfast and doing a tour round the old drawing offices of the ship yard which i would recommend to anyone .

    Hello folks,

Good to meet you all last weekend, and great to see so many MR2's (and Superchargers!) in the one place - shame the weather wasn't better though. Sorry I missed you packing up, I got caught in a heavy shower whilst getting some chips!

Hope to catch up with you again soon.

    Shane.

Hi Colin & friends. I am so sorry not to have posted here since Mike & I returned to the mainland. My time has somewhat be taken up by problems with my car. It overheated on the M6 motorway when about 80 miles from home. Up to that point I had done 850 miles. To cut a long story short. It had blown a cylinder head gasket. Ouch!!!! Will have to DIY this one. Luckily for me, my mates have rallied round. Mike is going to lend a hand & most importantly Stuart Goodacre, our previous Magazine Editor, has access to a large private workshop with a pit & overhead block & tackle. I am hoping to have it moved there a week today. Then the fun starts. I have sought Paul Woods’s advice & will, of course, follow it. Other friends & members including Rebecca Branch & her partner Peter have offered assistance in sourcing parts & advice.

Mike & I had a fantastic time in Northern Ireland. As Colin said The Titanic exhibit at Harland & Wolfe was fantastic. I sort of have an affinity with this, as I come from Southampton & my paternal family members were all seamen. Most of the crew were from an area of Southampton called Northam & every family there was affected by this disaster. There is a large memorial to the engine room crew in a public park in Southampton. Our family went there every remembrance day.

Thanks again to Colin, Roberta & all whom we met for your kindness & courtesy during our visit.

When my car is fixed, I shall start saving for a return visit.

Work starts on Sunday. I am having it moved to Stuart`s place early AM. Lots to do, but it may not be too expensive since my friends & I are doing the work. Just parts & pints to buy. I should learn a great deal about Camry lumps by the end. Really helpfull to have Stuart come up with this workshop.

Great to have met you in Rostrevor. I miss the Sodabread already.
