We would like to build a picture of what it’s like owning an MR2 in the South East and what our members have been doing with their cars during 2011. We are inviting anyone who lives in the SE region to post photos of their car. It would be helpful if you could put a brief description to accompany the photo. It can be a single photo or multiple (please limit it to a max 10 per post)

We are posting photos of the south east region club events in 2011 over the coming weeks. There will also be some personal photos so please feel free to do the same but it should be related to MR2s’.

The photos below are of the pub meeting held at Pippins on 20th March. we look forward to seeing more photos!

These are some photos from the car show at Herne Bay at the beginning of May.
There are two shows each year at Herne Bay. The first one as shown in the photos below is the first, held on the Saturday of the May Bank holiday. Parts of the town centre is closed off to traffic and all the classic cars are parked in these closed roads. If you want to come along with us next year you need to let us know before March to enable us to apply for spaces.

I couldn’t remember where I left the car keys!





Sadly all things must come to an end and it was time to pack up and go home.

However, the weekend wasn’t over yet. The next day we’re off to Brands Hatch to watch the MR2s racing!

These are the photos taken at Brands Hatch on a sunny but very windy day. Although we weren’t expecting much member support we were pleasantly surprised how many came to watch the racing.

Silverstone Classic Retro Run. 22nd to 24th July
Although this wasn’t a south east event, four of us from the south east went in two cars to take part in the 2011 Silverstone Classic Retro Run and join the club for the Silverstone Classic weekend. It was a 3 day event so Barry Banks, Alan, Linda and Mark Cayzer set off on Friday morning for the Journey to the Northampton Circuit.

I do like the wheels on the red F-reg Aw11 btw. There are some superb paint jobs about, stunning-looking cars.

I'm originally from Tayside (don't hate me for that!) although I am a naturalised Essex lad now, but I do make it up the old country now and again. I'll keep your invite in mind if I fancy a trip over to the west coast next time I'm up.
