Love this pic, even though ours is at the back. Nice shot of the winning mod car :-)

Just like to say thanks to Tom for organising this great event, and Bill for making sure the parade lap went to plan...won't forget that lap in a hurry.
It was good to meet other members, some I hadn't seen for years...the weather could have been kinder, but at least the sun was out on Saturday for our lap.
Stu
a few more parade lap photos
Kiera and I would like to say cheers to all for a wonderful weekend at Silverstone. It was good to finally put some faces to names. Everybody was very welcoming and hospitable and I really appreciated all of you being so good with Kiera - she really enjoyed it and was thrilled to be part of the parade lap, even if it did age her a couple of years.. ;)
Special thanks to Graham for the team RV and all of the breakfasts!
Loving all the photos, keep 'em coming! Here are some more of mine

has somebody been on the big wheel :-)
First port of call! Cracking view from up there. This was taken on the rainy Friday early in the morning. It'd be great to see one taken from up there on the Saturday when there were 30+ mk1's on the stand.
I think Tom took one on the Saturday?
Thanks Andy - it was great to have you and Kiera along - is she now our youngest member?
Hi all!
First of all, thank you again for an unforgettable Saturday (and a cracking weekend overall, despite the weather)!
Here's a link to my photos. There are too many to post them individually on here!

Rosie and I would like to add our thanks to all those that helped organise this Club event. We both especially enjoyed the Parade lap. (Keep the photos coming :-) )
It was nice to meet you all, and we look forward to participating in future events.
Ned
Great photos. I enjoyed having a wander around the stand. Was gutted to not be joining in though...hopefully next year my car will be back to 4 cylinders! Well done to all of you!
Can I add my appreciation to Tom, Bill and everyone else involved in organising such a successful and enjoyable event. There is never enough time to meet everyone but there's always next year.

And for Joyce to receive a trophy for the best T-bar was an unexpected pleasure, for which we are very grateful.

Last one for now.

Out of interest, and just for posterity, did anyone manage to take a photo of the flying brazier as we went round the track?
Martin perhaps? You were right behind.
For those who didn't do the camping, here's a taste of life at Camp MR2 ......

Balloon rise over Camp MR2

19:33 Soggy campers seek refuge in Camp MR2 Centre of Operations / Restaurant / Breakfast Bar. Graham rises to the challenge with a pasta starter followed by chilli and rice

Late on we finally retire to the tent and await Saturday
Saturday 25/07/15 07:41
IT'S NOT RAINING !!
More tents have mysteriously appeared overnight
Attachment 2813
Camp MR2 Centre of Operations is now surrounded by Mk1s
Attachment 2814
Our car is already on the show stand so a leisurely breakfast courtesy of Graham is eaten in the sun
Attachment 2815
The wet campsite roads mean the cars have to be washed again when they are parked on the show stand
Attachment 2816
But it's all worth it when over 30 shiny Mk1s fill the stand
Attachment 2817
Do you prefer red or white ?
Other colours were available during the 80's !

Gary's car clinic and mobile repair service goes down well with the crowd

We prepare for an evening of entertainment
Saturday 19:45
With the Status Quo concert just hours away, people arrive by any means of transport they can find
Attachment 2821
20:48
Some tremendous Group C racing starts the evening entertainment
Attachment 2822
Then it's the planes (this picture is taken off a bit of video I took hence the dodgy quality)
Attachment 2823
As the light dims and Status Quo take to the stage, the balloons glow along to the music, as does my brother's hair in a fetching shade of lilac.
The umbrella remains a mystery !

22:43 THE QUO
Rock and great cars, you just can't get better than that

Sunday 26/07/15 08:44
Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, we know it's due to rain soon so the tents are all hastily dismantled and packed away and we gather to make plans for the day
Attachment 2826
Unfortunately the weather does mean we pack up the stand Gazebo early when the rain eases slightly.
Can you identify the people in the photograph ? If so the Police would like to hear from you on ......
Attachment 2827
Whilst Bill waves us goodbye until Tatton, he also illustrates how the Mk1 makes such a great family car.
Its ability to transport everything the average family (2.5 children and huge dog) need for a fortnight high speed camping holiday in the Lake District was rarely mentioned in car reviews of the 1980's.
Attachment 2828
A big thank you to everybody at the show, you really are the most friendly and helpful gang.
If you were there I hope the pics remind you of great times.
If you weren't I hope it makes you want to give it a try next year !
John.
Brilliant write up john ,fantastic weekend can't wait until next year .

Not great pics due to the phone quality.
I'll post up a bit more in the coming days, but I just wanted to say thank you to all that attended! :)
Having 33 Mk1's on the stand and out on track made me very proud, and it's days like the Saturday that make all the hard work worthwhile.
Lots of fantastic memories and great to meet so many new members.
I'm now settling in to a few weeks of rest and relaxation (and sun, wine, cheese, baguettes etc.)

Fantastique! In Belguim by any chance Tom, at eau d'heure lakes perhaps? Good choice of beer BTW ;-)
Very good write up was much enjoyed by me and the other half maybe next year we may camp and have a chin wag although drinking then snoring I don't really want anybody to suffer the chainsaw snore that is my other half sleeping.
Have a nice rest chairman Tom see you at tatton.
France actually, but you can't beat a leffe!
A week in the Jura, followed by three nights in Alsace, sandwiched by two nights in Champagne district.
We've just spent the afternoon at a local village festival that just so happened to be this weekend. Very typically French with lots going on, but the bar was crazily cheap!

Good times!
PS: Yes, that is 35p for a glass of local wine!
