Hi Howard and everyone,
I'll have a think of a couple of routes. We've got the Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors to choose from, as well as some epic roads all around York and East Yorkshire also. I've had a quick scour around the Internet and come up with a rough plan as below:
Saturday 13th July 2013
Everyone makes their way to Levisham to join this car show - http://www.nymr.co.uk/special-events...hicle-weekend/
It looks like there is a gathering of cars as well as some light entertainment and a chance to see some historic railway engines in action.
Find some camping or accommodation close by for the evening - whittle away the night with some beer, camp fire and friendly MR2 based chat.
Sunday 14th July 2013
Awaken and go on a drive, starting at about 10am after everyone has packed away their tents etc. If we have enough interest, I could look into getting a barn or something in the area. Obviously, if it wasn't too pricey.
Then we have the whole of North Yorkshire at our disposal. I can create a route anywhere from 100-300 miles taking in beautiful scenery and challenging roads to more fast sweeping roads navigating through little villages etc. ending up somewhere near the A1 to make people's journeys home easier.
Thoughts?
I'm not sure how big an event the railway thing will be; I'll contact the hosts to see if they could accommodate for a gaggle of Mk1's.
We can always skip the event if it doesn't seem worth it and just have a little run on the Saturday en route to overnight accommodation and then the bigger run on Sunday.
Cheers,
Tom
