AW11 Fast Road / Drift Car
If this thread shouldn't be in this section then please feel free to move it / delete / whatever.
I intend to track the modifications I make to my car and give some sort of feedback as to how it felt on track / what I think will change for the next event etc.
Car is a 1989 NA.

I was concerned that on the small dusty banger track I wouldn't be able to get sufficient heat into the R888s as you are only on track for about 3-5minutes at a time. However with the fronts at 30psi I found I was melting the tread quite a lot, I have got a picture that has yet to be uploaded showing just how much.
I went up to 70psi in the rear tyres which was okay at the start of the day when the track was still dirty but by late afternoon I could have done with going to 80 or even 90.
Overall I think the car was okay, I worked it very hard for the whole day without giving it any rest periods other than 15 minutes in the que between each session. Between 50 and 60 it was very controllable and I was coming into the corners pretty much sideways just balancing it on the brakes. As the speed dropped off though it would regain traction very suddenly which made it very hardwork. I dont know yet if this is something I will overcome as I improve or if its going to be inherent to the car due to wheelbase and weight location.
My current geometry settings are unknown, the rear ARB is unconnected due to a broken drop link and the steering has a couple of inches of play in it. These are things I will aim to address before the next track day. Oh and I need a bucket seat as I spent half the time trying to brace myself in the car.
Hope this turns into an interesting read / a bit of an insight into "drifting" which most people see as chavs in car parks.
For those interested, I started off with a pair of rear tyres which were below the wear markers and took them down to the wires by about 4:30pm. I then fitted new tyres to drive home on. Therefore I only used tyres that needed to be scrapped anyway :) oh and half a tank of fuel
