RAINBOWS FAMILY FUN DAY – LOUGHBOROUGH - SUNDAY
21st JULY 2002
This event is held in my home town of Loughborough
on a site that I could walk to in 15 minutes, so it’s what you might call my
‘local’!
Rainbows is a charity concerning terminally ill children so it is an event
that deserves support by the whole community.
The Club has been attending for the past three years and the organisers are
always pleased to invite us. We tend to open all orifices and the public become
very interested in the position of the engine, the full width storage at the
rear and the fact that there is a spare wheel and further space under the
bonnet. When they are informed of the history, technicalities and performance of
the engine and road holding capabilities they begin to see the car in a totally
different light.
Due to someone’s events calendar being out of phase, myself Fred and Doris
were joined by Lauren, Mark, Thomas and Richard and we were soon inundated with
visitors inspecting Richard’s and Lauren’s Superchargers.
Being so local it wasn’t long before new and old acquaintances showed their
faces and another SK discourse on the merits of this car began.
During the day we had two appearances by the flying ‘ Utterly Butterly’s’
which consisted of two biplanes with women standing in harnesses in the centre
of the upper wings. They performed some inspiring manoeuvres much to the delight
of those present and with the weather staying fine an interesting day was had by
all.
