CLASSIC CAR SHOW MALVERN SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
6th AND 7th OCTOBER 2001
The Three Counties Show Ground has been the venue of
a large Classic Car Show for the past 10 years or more, so as a local Club
member I thought this was time for the club to show the MR2’s for the first
time. New blood and advanced sports car, well we must move on from seeing just
old cars that are dodging the crusher. The short time after Billing to
organise this did have the wind against us, but we managed a good turn out for
the first year. 5 Cars on Saturday and 7 on Sunday. Interest in the clubs stand
was very brisk from early in the day, resulting in 2 new members and no less
than 3 cars for sale to go on the website. There were plenty of things to do on
the site, with large trade stands indoors and outside. We even found a Toyota
parts trader with a few bargains on offer. There was a large Model Car Racing
circuit and radio controlled boat's in a man made pool, all indoors. Saturday
featured a Classic Car Auction. Michael Sheavills came down on Friday with his
entire family, dad Mac driving Michael's second car but disaster 50 miles after
leaving home. Mick following his dad sees steam and a complete dump of the
coolant all over the road. Sorted out a plan and all were reunited in Malvern at
10pm or so. Beer and Balty soon followed. Ken Salmon drove up from Hertfordshire
and Richard and Rachael Morgan arrived on Saturday evening, spending the night
chatting to the Sheavills family over beers and a nice Italian meal around the
corner from the hotel.
Sundays rain didn't dampen spirits to badly as several members came from
quite a distance, the rest of the weekend went without a hitch and a great time
was had by all.
