CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY - SATURDAY 9th DECEMBER 2006
The 2006
Christmas party was once more a great success, we did a little better this time
with 26 attending the festivities. The general consensus was that it was the
best party yet.
Once again
Steve and Jackie from the South East and Mike and Joanne from the North East
were the first to arrive on Friday evening. Richard Morgan and Stuart Kynoch
joined the two couples for a welcome drink on the Friday evening at the
Harvester next door to the party venue to get into the festive mood.
Saturday
afternoon is a time to meet old friends from around the regions; by 4pm almost
everyone who was attending had arrived and was deep in conversation and enjoying
a drink together.
7pm and we
all met in the reception area for a pre dinner drink and then once the
stragglers had arrived we were escorted by our hostess Layla into the banquet
room to start the festivities.
We all
enjoyed an excellent meal complemented by wine provide by the club, once the
meal was over the entertainment started with the “Retro Flyers”(Tamla
Motown, Commitments and Blues Brothers) everyone enjoyed the entertainment even
though it was impossible to hold a conversation with the volume of the music.
After, the resident DJ provided music to dance to until everyone was ready to go
to bed happy and tired.
Between all the entertainment Doris and I provided a raffle with 12 prizes.
Sunday morning we met in the car park at 11am and went for a short run around Charnwood
Forest finishing up at Bradgate Park, Old John car park for a photo shoot and for those who had the energy a walk up
to Old John. Three energetic members, Mac and Jacqui and Mike Sheavills walked
up to the memorial on Old John and were rewarded with the fantastic view from
the top.
Photo shoot over we all climbed into our cars and drove to the Priory Hotel for a good
lunch. After lunch we all said our goodbyes and parted in our various directions
for a safe journey home.

thank you for supporting the Christmas party at the Quality Hotel.
Will we
see you next year? Doris and I have arranged the festivities for the last three
years so for 2007 it needs someone else to organise the party; who is going to
take up the challenge?
