RAINBOWS WET AND WILD, WANLIP COUNTRY
PARK, WANLIP, LEICESTERSHIRE - SUNDAY 11th SEPTEMBER 2005
It wasn’t wet or wild; it was a great day with sunshine in the afternoon. The
venue was Watermead, Wanlip Country Park which was not the original location but
the message was circulated to the general public who turned up in large numbers
to make the day a success, it was also on our forum and web site but what
happened to our club members? Not one of you visited the event to view the six
cars that were on display from the club.
There was great deal of interest in the classic car area from the visitors and in
particular our MK1s had a steady flow of visitors both young and old who
were impressed with being able to sit in the cars and imagine a drive on a track
or on leafy country lanes with the ‘T’ bar panels off.
There were a number of stalls and exhibits of interest and probably the star
attraction was the event during the afternoon with dogs which Jo Walker one of
our club members; who also exhibited ‘Tangerine’ her MK1; took part in.
Jo entered Raiden her four legged companion for a couple of classes and he won
the waggley tail class, he is now an honorary member of the MR2 Mk1 club in
recognition of his achievement.
A big thank you to club members who displayed their cars, six in all and spent
time talking to all the visitors, they were:-
Phil Bood
Domanie Holland and James Cleveley
Stuart Kynoch
Doris and Fred Sanderson
