AUTOKARNA, WOLLATON PARK, NOTTINGHAM -
SUNDAY 5th JUNE 2005
Wollaton Park which is very close to the centre of Nottingham and consists of
rolling park land dominated by Wollaton Hall sitting on the highest point in the
park, is the ideal venue for a car show.
The show was organised by “The Pre-War Austin Seven Club” we had been invited
to attend with our club and were allocated a pitch for 10 cars. Isabel Beardmore
was the first to arrive and start to set up the pitch; she was closely followed
by Fred and Doris Sanderson and Stuart Kynoch and his son Chris. The club flag
was raised and the banner put on display, by this time several other members had
arrived and we were able to set the cars out to show them to advantage. Due to
work commitments and car breakdown we were two cars short plus three booked in
members who didn’t turn up, nevertheless the turn out was impressive and during
the morning Doris was able to get one of our ex. members to bring his car from
the public car park and join the display, I am happy to say that he rejoined,
welcome back aboard Phil Davis. We did have another new member so all in all it
was a good day for recruitment. There was a good deal of interest shown in our
cars from the general public and we were kept busy promoting the MK1.
There was a large autojumble that kept everyone searching for that bit that
you need and can never find, and dozens of vintage pre-war and classic cars to
view, plus lots of motorcycles and commercial vehicles and buses, all the
exhibits were a credit to their owners.
Thanks to everyone who displayed on our stand, those who didn’t attend missed
a very good well organised show, a big thank you to The Pre-War Austin Seven
Club and dare I mention it, the day was crowned with perfect weather.
