CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY - LOUGHBOROUGH, LEICS -
SATURDAY 4th DECEMBER 2004
Party time at last, weeks of planning coming to
fruition, have we dotted the I’s and crossed the T’s. I think the answer to that
is the success of the party. Friday afternoon the 3rd of December saw the
arrival of the first guests from the South, so off I went to welcome Steve
Kingsnorth and Jackie, Pete Mason and Kelly and Dave Price and Alison, we spent
a couple of hours together and they then went off to enjoy the hotel facilities.
Richard Morgan and Rachael spent the evening with the three couples.
Saturday afternoon was the customary get together where everybody can relax
and chat about all the events that have taken place during the year since
everyone last met and to discuss any problems and find solutions to sort out any
little hicks that we might have with our Mark one’s there is always someone
available to provide solutions. A complementary drink was provided by the club
and later in the afternoon a few brave souls ventured into the pool and jacuzzi,
it was only a few, most of the ladies were concerned about their hair for the
evening party.
Pre-dinner drinks were served at 7 o’clock and at 7-30 we all sat down for
our party meal, well almost all, where is Alan Jones went up the cry, having a
cosy nap which was disturbed with a phone call, he soon joined us to enjoy a
really good meal complete with crackers, party poppers and balloons. Great fun
was had with the sausage balloons; blowing them up and launching them like
ground to air missiles around the room, very funny.
After dinner we had a raffle with ten prizes the star prize a Dartington
Crystal block with the club motif engraved being won by Mark Dalton. It was a
little difficult to run the raffle with the disco in full swing but we managed.
The disco kept everyone on the dance floor burning off all the calories just
consumed. A good time was had by all; we finally retired to bed around 2am tired
and happy.
Early risers had a good breakfast but sadly it deteriorated as time went on;
we have had an apology from the manager of the hotel for the poor turn out of
the staff on duty that morning.
11 o’clock we were ready to leave the hotel with fifteen cars lined up for a
short run through the Leicestershire countryside to Staunton Harold a country
park with a craft centre and garden area, a few couples sat in the craft centre
courtyard and listened to a brass band playing seasonal music, the day was dry
and eventually the sun shone to bring the 2004 Christmas Party to a close as
everyone left for their drive home. Doris and I would like to thank everyone who
attended; it really makes all the effort worthwhile.
