PERFORMANCE AND GTi SHOW - STONELEIGH -
SUNDAY 3rd OCTOBER 2004
The day started very early, 5am, not a sensible time to be
out and about, but with 45 miles to drive, breakfast to eat, sandwiches to pack
and a venue arrival time of 6.45 plus the drive in our trusty camper not our MR2
it was necessary. Geoff and Lois Cordon drove with us from Loughborough.
By the time we arrived at Stoneleigh there was already quite a queue formed,
Stuart Kynoch also joined us with his son Christopher. The gates were opened at
7am on the dot and we were able to enter the hall and start to prepare the stand
for the show. The camper was unloaded and preparations for the day were started.
Within a few minutes Pete Kyte in his blue car with Steve Kingsnorth and Pete
Mason and Kelly in their white Supercharger arrived, Geoff and Lois had one of
their helios blue cars on the stand so together with Stuarts red MR2 we had a
good selection.
By 9am the stand was ready and looking good, the only hiccough one member was
missing with his car.
So contact was made with Richard Morgan who was on the way to the show to
tell him his Supercharger was required on the stand, there was much protest
saying that it needed a good clean which was ignored, the car was soon on the
stand the fluorescent lights doing it proud.
There was a good deal of interest during the day from the public and there
were one or two potential new members. The high light of the show was Pete Kyte
being presented with a plaque for the best Toyota at the show, well done Pete.
The days show drawing to a close we all felt ourselves lucky that we had an
indoor stand as the rain started to fall, we had a wet drive home but well
satisfied with a good day out with our cars.
