TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT

The first thing is to remove the battery ( always disconnect the neg. side first ) then pull the air cleaner assy. there are four bolts (1 and 2 at the bottom and 3 and 4 at the top) and some hoses (5,6)

Now remove the two bolts that hold the t-sat housing to the trans (7 ,8 ) and support them off of the trans

Remove the shift cables there are two clips and some washers (9)

disconnect the speed "o" (10) and the rev. light switch (11)

Remove the two bolts (20) that hold down the clutch slave and the shift bracket

close up

OK lets go to the bottom

Pull the drivers side axle by unbolting the axle at the trans (12) and the axle nut at the tire side

Now remove the suspension (13). disconnect the tie rod and stabilizer bar at the wheel side (14)

After removal of suspension and axle

Remove right side axle nuts (15) there is no reason to pull the hole axle

remove the flywheel inspection plate there are three bolts (16)

Now remove the starter bolts (17) and the bolt to the shift bracket (18) but do not remove bolt (19) until later

OK now back to the top

Remove the two bolts (21) that hold the trans to the engine

Now back to the bottom

It is time to remove the mounts but first support the engine and trans with two jacks one under each

remove the two bolts (22) on this mount first

On this one remove these bolts (23)

This is the last one to be removed there are two bolts one on each side (24)

Ok now its time to remove that bolt (19) and drop the trans out

Now that you have the trans on the ground swap the mounts (26) to the new trans and the T O bearing (25)

If you wont to change the clutch out pull the 6 bolts (27) around the plate

now reinstall
