ADJUSTABLE ANTI ROLL BAR END LINKS
Here's an easy fix for some rattling problems. Takes
about 10 minutes to install - takes longer to jack the car up than it does to
put these on. Use a 14mm socket and spanner to remove the standard ones, and two
17mm to install the new end links.
Comparison between the standard end links and the new ones:
Here's the standard end links and new end links
installed. If you notice the top of the end link is mounted differently. If I
tried mounting the new end link into the standard location, it would not fit
properly, as the end would come into contact with the strut mounting bracket,
causing it to not align properly with the roll bar.
UPDATE!
After finding out this mounting method caused some
rubbing in the inner wing, I sought the advice of the MR2 message board. I then
redid the end links, using the spacers from the old end links (the L shaped
things in the above pic) and situating the washers differently. So at the top
mounting bracket, instead of bolt, washer, joint, washer, bracket, nut, it is
now bolt, bracket, spacer, washer, washer, joint, nut (ie, the joint is now
inside the mounting bracket 'box'). Changed how the bottom is mounted as well,
so that both washers and spacer are used next to each other. Below are pics of
standard vs. old install vs. new install:
Another view looking up from the ground:
Here's a pic of the rubbing that the original install
caused. No harm was done to the offending bolts.
