Just catching up on this. Just saw the video a couple of pages ago and... WOW! May have made a mess. (With my tea, not anything else... ) What a glorious sound! Woodsport wrote: I decided to face reality and try and total up what this project has cost me so far I didn't quote the final tot-up for your own sanity, but... You look at the cost of the engine and think, hmmmm, not so bad. Then you start adding up everything else and it goes up a bit! Not to mention the cost of your own man-hours!! But then, as you say, it's a hobby. I ended up spending the cars value on my MR2s suspension set up. I'm sooooo happy with how it is, but I know that that's money I'll never get back. I wouldn't call it wasted money though. I've enjoyed it, I enjoyed putting it together, and I thought it was a good hobby to have at the time! (And I'd possibly do it again...) As for the bezel on the Koso unit - I'd say get it sent off and done properly. Spray paints are good, but chances are you won't get a good match with the other rings you've fitted so either you take them off and spray them too, or you send off the Kozo to have it match as close as possible. In my opinion, of course! Looks lush though!

That's a good idea on the bezels max, i'm getting silly quotes for chrome plating the one i made, so painting them all silver or something makes sense, that's a very simple solution and i had completely overlooked that.

Well it was a huge day for me, 2 years into the build and a ton of time and money, Jay came over and helped me out for the day, cheers mate! and the Mk1 V8 officially moved under its own steam, just a few feet forward and back to check clutch operation.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nl8D3wpdwpYApologies in advance if anyone is expecting a mad burnout video, that is not going to happen today, we just wanted to start off slowly and build up over the next few weeks to the mad doughnuts and burnouts. For now i needed to be 100% sure everything is working and start debugging any faults. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PRmTxEA6GUThe car drives effortlessly, no throttle needed at all to move it, just lift the clutch, there is so much torque , this thing is crazy. More trundling about.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDKk8qYvTaoJay and i stopped filming to give the car a little squirt, we knew the bonnet catch was not on the car, we both knew we could only do 5mph, but in a moment of sheer madness i forgot all about it and i mashed the pedal and the bonnet flew up and cracked my windscreen , i'm not bothered because it was cracked anyway and i have a new one ready to fit and my bonnet was rusty so both were being replaced anyway, but it did scare the **** out of us! lol So all in all a very successful days testing, i'm over the moon that i have achieved what some said was not possible, now the hard work begins sorting my bodywork out and finishing off the interior.

Hey thanks! It's been a very long journey to get to this point, still a way to go as well but driving that thing today just made all of the cold mornings working on the car worth it.
