Hello, I have had my car for around 3 months and appart from one mechanical scare that resulted in a panic post on the forum it has been a great car. Chances are the one of the many previous owners has been around this club. In terms of what needs fixing the list is long. From a distance it looks really good but up close you can really notice previous repairs and it has been t cut that many times some of the leading edges are white. The exhaust is very loud, the roof leaks but I love it.

In terms of what I have done since owning, replaced the mushroom filter for a k&n, ebayed a set of leather seats that were not so ripped, another heater control panel, tinted the t tops, quarter lights and rear window.

Its already got a jimi throttle bracket which is good and checking the previous mots for the car through the link on this site reveals that it has been a bit hit and miss over the last few years usually a rust related fail.

These pics are after I tinted the rear windows, I used a 15% smoke on the sides and Mirrored the rear window. It looks really good in my opinion and fairly easily reversed back to standard.

My main aim is to get it through the winter and hopefully sort most of the rust next year but for now I just really enjoy driving my car.

Cheers Dave

Very nice :+:
I'd make one suggestion, reroute the throttle cable so that is down the side of the battery away from the positive battery terminal. It's not safe where it is now, if it shorts to the battery terminal (and it has happened) it can cause a fire. The fitting instructions I send out with my brackets highlight this danger.

Nice one Jimi, sorted that now. I just pushed it further down and all seems ok.

Also put my newly aquired seats in and my RhonsMr2 gear shift pattern plate which is ace, well worth the six quid.

Then gave it a quick clean and polish, I love the red when its polished it looks great, shame it will go pink again over the next couple of weeks.

It does nt seem to go as pink as the mk2 I had for years, that was proper lady penelope. I only need a mk3 in red now for a full house.

Hi Dave, Welcome

Looks good mate The seats  well impressed they change the whole look of the car.
Its amazing what a bit of polish can do to car, if the car get garaged it will stay red for longer.

P.S what did you do with the mushroom filter ??

I'm after one PM me please.

Chris

I'm sure I know that car :? it looks like it has one of my stainless plug valley covers as well as a satin bracket. Is one of the previous owners Carl Schooley ?

great stuff :+:
we used auto glym:
paint renovator (only once in a while)
super resin polish & finish with 'extra gloss protection'

our red mk1a stayed red much longer than with other previous products we'd tried
