As part of the ongoing makeover for the MK1 Club we plan on holding a pre-season launch party. This will give us an excuse to all get together and celebrate he launch of the new MK1 Club, website, members paks, regalia, etc, it wll also give non members at the time an opportunity to come along and meet Club members for the 1st time before joining, they will of course have the opportunity to join the Club there and then.

Details are a little sketchy at the moment but I can tell you it's going to be a cracking weekend of club fun! If you are interested in attending please add your name

Right back from shopping, no not retail therapy!!! Don't do that, Yuk!

Now on the case of sorting out a location and hotel for our "little do" in March

Watch this space ;)

AW11 Forever
3rd January 2009, 03:54 PM
Nice one Deb's

I would imagine we could see potential numbers around the 40 figure. We need a good hotel with dining/dinner facility centrally located and easy to navigate to. If we could get a side room for free for the mini AGM that would be magic!

Its worth thinking about the run out in the afternoon. Is it worth considering the Mickleover again, I bet we can get a cracking deal if there is going to be a large booking. For the Saturday afternon run we could have a run up to Chatsworth Park...

Well, wittled it down to two I reckon, International Hotel, Derby, www.internationalhotlederby (http://www.internationalhotlederby) and of course Mickleover Court, www.menzies-hotels.co.uk/hotels/derby/m ... over-court (http://www.menzies-hotels.co.uk/hotels/derby/menzies-mickleover-court). Both ringing back with group booking details, so should have something positive by Monday, soooooo watch this space

Hi all what a great idea. That was a fab hotel we stopped at in Dec Debs!

Pete.

AW11 Forever
3rd January 2009, 06:46 PM
Great suff Debs at least we are out of the starting blocks.

Have you told the hotels how much we can drink!

So in a nutshell we are looking for a deal of 2 x nights B and B in double/twin/single rooms with optional dinner in the restaurant.

I would expect a figure of around £90 per couple or £80 for single room for that deal at that time of year, bargain hard Deb's there will be plenty of hotels begging for our business.

Either hotel we choose we could have a trip up to Chatsworth Park in the Mk1's or if anyone wants to come up with suggestions, local knowledge anyone?

waynestoyotamr2
3rd January 2009, 06:47 PM
Fantastic work!

I like the look of the International Hotel in Derby

We've been to the Mickleover, come on guys, lets do something fresh!

AW11 Forever
3rd January 2009, 06:58 PM
Spot on rooms £90 for 2 nights, just as predicted, although I still think we can get a better discount if we bargain very, very hard and Deb's you are just the person to do it!

AW11 Forever

Hold it, here comes an announcement

'' 24 hour bar ''

Jobs a gud-un!

waynestoyotamr2
3rd January 2009, 07:31 PM
24 hour bar?

We can put Kingsnorth on the list then!

I am not rooming with him this time though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Derby International looks a great option Debs.

AW11 Forever
3rd January 2009, 08:08 PM
At £90 for a weekend room, eee, yea!

Deb see if we can still get it cheaper thought, £75 for the weekend seems about right for such a big group, looking for about 15 rooms at least.

Right, doing a sneaky at work ;)
Have heard back from both Hotels, details as follows;

Mickleover Court -
Friday Night £90.00 per room (Double/Twin) B & B, Single £65.00
Saturday Night £130.00 per room (Double/Twin) B & B & Dinner, Single £75.00
Meeting Room £100.00

International Hotel -
Friday and Saturday £35.00 per room, per night, B & B
Dinner on Saturday Night £16.00 per person
Meeting Room £50.00

Well I think we should go for International Hotel, Spoke to Christine and drove a hard bargain :P
If so, we could start booking now, best if we ring (01332 369321) individually as easier, due to debit/credit card numbers etc., Booking Ref: MK1 AGM

I know I'll be booking tonight :D

Need to start seeing a show of hands here people, I know its early days but mid March will be here sooner than you think. Get booked into the hotel ASAP, they don't actually take payment now just your card number to confirm your reservation. Once you have booked your room at the above mentioned hotel then please update the attendees list, its very important that we manage this event in a proactive manner.
The website launch party is going to be a MASSIVE event, probably one of the most important meetings in the clubs history to date. The weekend event will consist of a mini AGM, we plan to hire a room on the Saturday afternoon after the Club drive out to answer any questions from you our Club members. The afternoon ''workshop'' session will have a casual vibe and it will be an opportunity for non-members to come along and meet the committee and our members, ask questons about the club and also have the opportunity to join there and then and collect their welcome pack. We also plan to have the full regalia shop up and running by then with Club merchandise available to order on the day.
On Saturday night we plan to hold a gala style dinner, we need to look a little more into this, menu, entertainment, etc.
It would be highly beneficial if all the committee and Club area organisers could attend, we are also toying with the idea of asking our affiliates and suppliers to attend, would be a great opportunity to meet them and see their peoducts.

I think Debs has done an astonishing job here. £35 for a room, B & B. £16 for dinner. :D And it looks a really nice place.

I'd like to go. Just have to discuss things a bit. It's our 25th wedding anniversary that week ;)

...and got to make sure the teenage kids don't have a party if we're out

AW11 Forever
7th January 2009, 10:31 PM

What better way to celebrate your 25th anniversary than to bring the other half to a MK1 Clb event, aaaarrrr your all heart my friend!

Yep, Deb got a wicked deal although if you go on their webite and put in the same dates its coming up £70 for the same 2 nights, odd

Hello Chaps,
I have only just caught up with this today. Having seen how far away it is, I'm afraid I'm out.
I wouldn't have been able to stay the night as its difficult to organise "the farm" for overnight stays. Its a just shy of a 400 mile round trip and thats a lot to do in one day with the run out and what have you.
Have a great day though.

AW11 Forever
9th January 2009, 05:28 PM
Ah, thats a real shame! :-:

We had to pick somewhere central as we have members throughout the UK including Scotland, its a shame you couldn't stay over otherwise it would have been worth it.

Its about a 300 mile round trip for me but I'll benefit from staying the weekend.

Maybe another event then :+: :+: :+:

spudgun
9th January 2009, 06:02 PM
Cheers Micheal,
Sometimes your going to find this with me, unfortunately.
The other half has a lot of pets and overnight stays end taking so much organising that the fun is taken out of it, to the point we don't bother.
Longer stays are alright though, but animals have to be shipped out to family and the cats stuck in the cattery. You get the idea.
Please don't mistake this for lack of enthusiasm though.

AW11 Forever
9th January 2009, 06:11 PM
Hey! I would never question your enthusiasm :o you're a good un, I fully understand the home situation, no need to explain yourself my friend.

Well the good news is there is a major packed 2009 full of events!! lots of them 1 day shows and events, Debs working on the schedue/calendar as we speek

Hi All

Having read this it does look like a good weekend, but having had a look at the distance and taking into account the petrol money and money for hotels we'll have to give it a miss. We're going to go on a proper holiday this year and funds can't stretch to this too :(

However will be attending a good lot of other meets :)

Andy that sounds fantastic, you seem to know your way around, any chance you could knock up some maps and work out a route. There will proably be about 10 cars.

Would really appreciate that.

Hello, me and my missus live in Derby and would like to join you for the Saturday drive out, EGM and may join you for a drink later in the evening, if thats alright. There are some GREAT roads around here and the idea of Carsington Water, already mentioned, could be linked up with Ashbourne and Wirksworth to form a decent little run out. :D
This is my first time on this forum and though a member for some years, to my great shame, I`ve been a bit of a back-seat passenger  so it would be nice to get out and put some faces to the names. :)
Cheers Neil & Anne

Good to see some late additions to the list for the weekend party.

On the downside I've had word from Steve Kingsnorth who isn't well at all and might not be able to make the weekend, hope you get well Steve and can make it in the end :+:

Another event I'm missing!

I'd love to come down, even if it was just for the run out and meeting but Hisano and Me are sorting her Visa out and sending that off tomorrow (Saturday).

Plenty of new faces coming that I'd have liked to meet too. I'll just have to look forward to after Uni when I've got both the time and funds to come to events and get organising plenty of my own.

Have a good one guys and make sure there are plenty of pics taken. :+:

Cheers
Tom

We had a great time, the run out on Saturday was great, some excellent roads, was airborne a few times!

The meeting was extremely productive and construcive, another great step forward for the club.

Really enjoyed the Saturday night venture out to Frankie & Bennies, great company and the usual barrel of laughs!

The Hotel was extremely great value, £70 for the whole weekend for both Joanne and myself and included a buffet style cooked breakfast. Loved the 70's style themed bedrooms complete with flowery wallpaper and green flowered carpet including the bathroom. The wooden bed surround with built in radio was a real touch of class, loved it, unfortunately it didn't work.

We ended the weekend with a short run out with Jinxy and Deb hosted by Fred and Doris. Overall a great weekend, nice to catch up with everyone. Thanks to everyone who made the effort.

Below is a small selection of the pictures I took over the weekend, enjoy!

Sitting here with tears in my eyes   , just thinking about what a great weekend we have had

The Hotel was brill, yep even the decor, now I know why I felt rough last night, nothing to do with the 2 glasses of wine at the EGM :shh: , the wine in the Argousey, and then the cocktails at "Ben and Jenny's" :shifty:

Starting with Friday night being Chill out Night and a lovely Curry (And yes that face Jinxy is pulling!!! Spot On  ). The Run was fantastic on Saturday morning, my foto's on my FB page. The EGM for being very productive and a HUGE thankyou to one and all for attending, was good to meet some new faces  . And again the lively evening out. Then our mini run on Sunday to Denby Pottery. Then Jinx and I on the spur of the moment called into Castle Donington to have a look around the museum 8-) .

Must give personal thanks to Chris (Oukie) for the entertainment on Friday night   Will never look at a Londis is the same light again
