1987 mk1 MR2 TBar

Bought in 2011 from and restored for me by Dafydd at Superb Classics and Sports Ltd, South Wales.

6147
6148

75000 miles only
White with blue interior
Restored and resprayed about 10 years ago. No rust, all panels were replaced. New wheels and tyres. Original wheels included in the sale. Garaged permanently with SORN for a few years, following owner becoming ill and now unable to drive. Electrics are ok, but no fuel in tank so cannot start it. Fuel tank would require cleaning to clear old fuel residue. For this reason it is being sold as a non runner. Currently under a private number plate with DVLA, in the pictures is the original number plate.
No current MOT. Therefore realistically priced to sell quickly at £4k.
SENSIBLE OFFERS WILL BE CONSIDERED.
Location Isle of Skye - I know, I’m a long way away, but it is what it is.

Hi Andy. Forgive me, I’m not sure what GLWTS stands for.

Is that Cecil Ward's car ? I remember him being a member of the OC and seeing pictures of it back in 2012, it was Skye that rang a bell. His car won car of the month January 2012 https://www.mr2oc.co.uk/forum/326/150601.html?p=1575464#p1575464

Hi, yes it is Cecil’s car, I’m his wife. He’s really upset he can no longer drive because of progressive illness, and he’s wanting someone else to enjoy it. Nice you remembered him, I’ll let him know, he’ll be pleased.

Hi. I’ve sent you a message asking for more details. I’m sorry to hear Cecil is unable to enjoy the car now.

I’ve been looking for an MR2 for months and Cecil’s car sounds great.

Hi Andy, just seen your message. I’ll talk to Cecil in the morning, and get back to you.
It’s a genuine, loved car that has unfortunately ended up garaged and not driven for a while.
Many thanks

Hi Andy, I’ve spoken with Cecil, and he is happy to accept your provisional offer of £3750, and knowing it is going to live long and prosper makes some compensation for parting with his dream car.
We would prefer to ask for a deposit when we release the car.
Let me know that you wish to progress and we can sort something out.
Best wishes, Janet

Hi Janet. Many thanks. I am happy to do the money side however suits you. I've just got a few questions about the condition of the car and what work it might need as I will get it transported directly to a garage for the recommission work. Would it be OK to contact you via email or by phone? I will PM you my contact details. Cheers, Andy

Hi Janet. Don't want to hassle you but just wanted to say I will buy the car when you can send me a bit more info. I'm happy to put down a deposit when you are ready.

Totally understand you may have other pressures right now so no rush. The good news is I have found someone who could transport the car next week and I just need to find a garage who can take it and do the necessary work. Email is abuckley750@gmail.com or check the PM I sent with my mobile number. Best, Andy

I think I might have had a message from Janet where she replied to a new message notification by email rather than through the forum, so thinks she's keen. [emoji106]

I'll forward it on tomorrow unless she sees this in the meantime. [emoji4]

Oh, WHAT an irksome* collection awaits the next owner!

(* Not really. I'm green with envy, both of the car and the first journey for its new keeper. Sorry to hear that Cecil has to move it on. All the best)

Hi there, Janet. Was this car sold? Thank you.

It was, to myself but sadly the car was not in great condition following its lay up. I passed the car on to MR2 Ben who had the parts and resources to restore it better than I.
