I am selling my car. It is one that has been owned by club members for most of the last 10 years. I first saw it when it was owned by Tommy (Coverco) and I decided there and then that this was the type of mr2 I wanted. In March 2016 I eventually got my hands on it and I’ve very much enjoyed owning it. It is the 4th mk1 that I have owned and is definitely the best. I am selling it because my mother-in-law has given me her mk3. I can’t keep both and have decided that the mk3 will be a better long-term prospect as a daily driver.

Here's a link to the restoration that Tommy did: http://www.mr2mk1club.com/showthread.php?5916-Restoration-thread-(56K-Beware)

There are a couple of bad points about the car. The handbrake is pretty useless. I have had it tightened before an mot and it works fine for a couple of months, before it starts to go again. I tend to just park it in gear these days, but it's something I had on my 'to do' list. The other bad point is the paintwork on the front bumper. It was pretty poor quality when I bought the car, but hitting a pheasant didn't improve it! It looks ok from a distance, but again it was on my 'to do' list. Other than that I think this is a pretty great car! Here's a link to the Gumtree ad: https://www.gumtree.com/p/toyota/toyota-mr2-mk1-aw11/1294406253

I am asking for £3200 in the ad. I am happy to negotiate, especially with a club member!

I'll add some photos to this thread soon.

Sold! To a young man from Loughborough. I will encourage him to join the club when he comes to collect it tonight.

For me my mk1 journey is now over after owning and enjoying 4 of these great cars as well as having a great laugh with some brilliant members of this club.

Sorry to hear your not getting another one. Give it a few years and im sure you will get the craving back.
Hopefully you can entice the new owner to join the club.
Any idea what your moving onto?

If I won the lottery I would definitely get another mk1, and a Ferrari 355. I don't do the lottery though so it's a remote possibility!
I gave the new owner a card and said he should join, if only so he can see the old threads about his car from when Tommy owned it.
I have no plans to move onto anything at the moment. There are still more cars than people in our household, so I'll be driving one of the economy hatchbacks we have. It feels like the itch has been scratched.

The new owner is called Henry and I would guess he's about your age. He's a mechanical engineering student at Loughborough, so hopefully he'll be able to look after her. :)

Have you still got the mk3 in the house? They can be fun to drive.
Im sure the itch will come back so the forum is open to you when it does :D
hopefully we will see the new owner on here soon
