This is an interesting looking car. I assume it's actually had a full engine swap rather than just had the super charger removed. Shame there are no engine bay pics.

Engine lid isn't the SC one either; a strange combination for sure! :)

I saqw that.. i would have thought its just a NA with SC stickers,.. The dash doesn't have the SC light on it either.. its only really stickers that say it was an sc

I am actually looking for a LHD mk1 ....
I have talked to the seller for almost half an hour on the phone and explained to him that the car does not appear to be a supercharger. He did not fight me on it, he simply changed the subject.....

I am slightly wound up as the car is up on ebay again ....
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112300734630?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
but this time he doesn't mention "the supercharger has been removed" he just says plain and simple that it is a supercharger AW11 ....

This is the reason that anyone wanting to buy a classic car should join the relevant forums. Ebay is a minefield for buying cars if you are not mechanically minded but people still use it. You could try reporting it but Ebay are not that bothered as long as they get their fees

Are you sure the supercharger has been removed?

It is a bit of a con, they are asking for a £250 deposit straight away...... probably non refundable lol

It has the correct steering wheel centre, but for for a "very rare" full leather interior it has the wrong gear knob (plastic covered, not leather). Also looks like it may have had/has aircon as the A/C - ECON buttons are on the heater controls and it has the old style non LED 3rd brake light.

The guy selling it is an absolute tool, I sent some polite questions and got very rude replies, he couldn't even be bothered to tell me if it had a supercharged engine or not, the last reply from him was "JUST LEAVE THE CAR"

Moron, buyer beware.

Something is wrong with it for sure. Check out the negative feedback on a Lancia Beta he sold. I'm not sure what to make of it.

The reason I think it is a US car Jimi is the silly reflectors on the sides at the front and back. That is silly money for a left hand drive car, I think it will appear on Ebay again in a few days :D

If you think that was expensive look how much his Metro Turbo went for Completed sales (http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/johnplayerclassics7/m.html?item=112279030120&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2046732.m1684) Twice!

If you read further down that list it shows the same LHD MK1 as being sold for £1660 on 22nd Jan this year, then re-listed on the 29th - withdrawn, re-listed again and sold the other day for £1,589.00
all seems very suspicious to me

A chap over on Retro Rides sold a car a month on Ebay last year. Very regularly people would win the auction and then disappear without trace, turn up and immediately try to argue the price down. And so on and so forth... He got pretty fed up of Ebay. There are some total muppets on it. Based on his experience very few car sales go through as they should.

To be fair though this car is seriously suspect. It is not a supercharger and is being wrongly advertised.

jimi

If you look at the MOT history it failed the MOT with serious corrosion,

offside rear Body or chassis has excessive corrosion, seriously affecting its strength within 30cm of the body mountings sill / bottom of arch (6.1.B.2)
11 days later it passed (at a different MOT station) with 1 advisory (not mentioned on the previous fail)

Advisory notice item(s)
o/s/f tyre side wall perished

Maybe I'm reading to0 much between the lines but strikes me as suspicious.

It's not mentioned as a supercharger anymore though.

However saying the km conversion to miles is 81k but then just below its stated as 78k...

Very cynical viewpoint. You engineering/mechanical types might want to look at the engine and the oily bits, but I put my trust in the stickers. It says Supercharger on the side so it is obviously faster than my car. ;)
