Recently bought a MK1 after lusting over them for years.

Looking forward to finding out more about their history, doing a few bits to my recent accession and hopefully tipping up at a odd meet/show.

Based in Sheffield. Thanks for having me.

I would agree. Not sure why the bloke didn't have it on the market for more.

I drove down with a friend in his Lotus on Monday night, he's knows a thing or two about classic cars and he gave it the once over for me. Said it was a bargain. Drove it back nice and steady and it was a great (although the weather was awful).

Since then I've only cleaned it and got rid of the nasty seat covers. The drivers seat needs some attention but the passenger seat has a lovely patina to it. Thinking about re-doing the seats in the original perforated leather and then the wheels (which are all odd colours). Then might look into having a full-respray.

The majority of the car looks to be original, even the windows. No rush in the wheel arches either. It has a full history too that I'm yet to have time to look through apart from knowing it's had 4 owners. 140k miles on the clock. I gave it a little spin in the Peaks yesterday and was a real pleasure to drive.

I've tried but it say they have to be othorised by a mod?

Am i missing something?
