Hi all I am newbie to your club I'm living in benfleet Essex. Have purchased a 1988 MR2 MK1 without a spare wheel. Can anybody tell me if it was fitted with a space saver wheel or a normal wheel and tyre, can anybody tell me where I can acquire one or will one from another model car and make fit.
Regards
Brian

Normal wheel is fitted not a space saver. Plenty floating about on the Internet. What wheels are currently fitted to the car? Original teardrop ones?
Plenty with 4x100 fitment will fit. But an original wheel isn't expensive.

Welcome brian.
I am pretty close to you and Alex (superwhite) is not far either so we may all get to a meet in the summer.

Good luck with the new car

Hi Brian,

Welcome to the club and as Chrys said I am close, in Wickford.

A full size 14" spare fits well in the front and if you get a full size wheel, turn it around so you can store things in the inner rim of the wheel.

Hi Brian,

welcome along.

I have a spare (original) Mk1 wheel with tyre if you are looking for one.. £20 buys it. Alternatively I have a space saver wheel which will do the job which you can have for £30. I'm in St Albans, Herts if you wish to collect.

Cheers

Ollie

Hi there,
thank you for your information, had a look at the wheels and they appear to be 5 spoke, 4 studded, with 195/50 R15 tyres fitted would you recognise these? thanks again

A spare one of those will still fit perfectly in your spare wheel cage no issues at all. I have a spare the same in mine.

Hi Brian,

Yes mine are 15s - eBay is the best bet to be honest. The wheels are not worth much at all any more which is a pain as I wish to sell mine.

You can probably pick one up for about £35-40 with a tyre, but make sure they are same size as your tyres, as the standard tyre size for a MK3 is 185/55 fronts and 205/50 rears.
