WOW! That engine looks stunning and the colour is amazing! I cant wait to see this one finished!!

Did you think about bike carbs instead of the webbers? They are simpler to set up and apparently just as effective.......and by all accounts sound amazing! Quite a few people have fitted them to the 4AGE.

Keep us updated please

Cheers

The hoses look great. Where did you get them? Was it a kit?

BIGBOYZJUNK
3rd March 2014, 02:32 PM
cheers for the good comments guys :p
Hoses were a kit from ebay, Stoney Racing Toyota MR2 MK1 Silicon kits for engine and radiator.
I am just old skool when it come to the fuel delivery and like the sound of them

I agree 100%! Nice to see the 4AGE still in there.

The arch repairs look fantastic. Did you put new qtr panels on? So often the curve of teh arch is slightly off when repaired.

What colour is that...it's fantastic!

I must say, I dont know what your plans are but I hope the car exterior doesn't look too far from standard......just my preference but some cars that are finished to such a standard are spoilt at the last stage by the exterior being changed too drastically. Those kinds of mods often date quite quickly.

thanks guys, decided to keep the 4AGE as a won a NOS short engine off ebay a while back, maybe a supercharger con at some stage!!
as for the arches, they were just a kit from radford panels company (top quality), but i have a very good welder mate, who did a cracking job and fitted new inners as well.
as for the exterior, it will be pretty much as is, main mods will be hidden underneath!!
My welder mate made a new rear valence (you can see on photo) to accomodate a quad pipe exhaust i picked up, thats all that will look different from the exterior and a Woodsport Haslbeck number plate panel - thx Paul

Excellent......That Haslbeck plate surround is really nice

And the colour??????

When i finished my spitfire 9 years ago, i was really please with how it looked. I went for only subtle exterior mods and a colour change. I was going to be more drastic with the mods but am now so glad i didn't. It still stands up really well and is (in my opinion) one of the best looking spitfires in the country. Had i have followed some of my alternative, more drastic routes, i am pretty sure I would not like it now and would not be able to sell it!

From what i see so far, i think your car has the promise of being one of the best looking MR2s in the country...I cant wait to see the finished article!

Great job, I am just about to strip my engine to pices and rebuild, do you know rough cost of rebuild with all new bits and bobs pipes ect? I am planing to shot blast each element, replace all pipes ect. Your colour combination is amazing. Well done and goodluck with finishing

superwhite90
22nd April 2014, 08:41 AM
Don't shot blast the rocker covers and make sure if you shot blast the inlet manifold all holes are sealed up as you don't want dust in your engine.

I spent about £1700 rebuilding my engine and I replaced everything less the crankshaft. I didn't use Toyota gaskets or genuine Toyota bits like the water pump and didn't replace the oil pump.

Stoney Racing have no pipes in stock FYI

I have an excel spreadsheet showing the list of parts I bought with costs if you want to see it for an indication of what costs what? I bought quite a few new bolts from Toyota, including front and rear crankshaft seals. The front was not cheap :(

Nice, but get some T-Cut on those rear light lenses and get them polished up :D

The right light in this pic has been polished with T-Cut, the one on the left hasn't (ignore the clear lens)

Cheers guys
The lights are a duff pair got paint stripper on them. Got another pair in a box ;-)
Put these in as I've got a haslbeck centre trim that needs a bit of fibreglass/filler to fit nice so just stuck these in for now.
I think I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel !!
