If anyone fancies it, Pete Mason and I will be doing the following trackday:

http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/trackday/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=723itemid&vmcchk=1&Itemid=1

This is the full 3.8 mile GT circuit and is being run by Javelin Trackdays - I did a Javelin day at Bedford in November and it was impeccably run, and the track has miles of run-off so is good for beginners (me included!)

I'll be in the Mk1 SC and Pete will be in his Mk3. Helmet hire if you need it is £10.

Looks like a good circuit. Nice and wide with plenty of run off as you say.

Good price for a full day's running too!

Have fun!

Yup! Definitely!

The blue one will be going up for sale as soon as I get chance to fit some new handbrake cables to it and get it MOT'd. I'll miss it, but funds need to go towards a house next year.

How very grown up of me! :(

Well, an excellent day all in. I only picked up the SC from the bodyshop the day before, so I only really had time for a cursory check-over before departing for Bedford on Friday evening. Fortunatley, Rogue had done all the servicing work shortly before it went, including the all-important supercharger oil, as well as fitting a set of Whiteline adjustable ARBs and a TTT 175mm crank pulley. This has upped the boost to approx. 14psi :D

My first stint felt good, taking it gently at first and then pucking up the pace a bit. I felt the rear end was a bit loose so when I came in I had a chat with a few people who suggested adjusting the tyre pressures a bit - trouble is, no-one knew whether I should go up or down!

So, out I went again (this time with the camera running) and got one lap before I realised the tyre pressures should have been up, not down...

(Watch to the end)

So after that I put some air back into the rears, and went out again. So much better, the extra power coupled with the stiff ARBs and LSD make it really easy to steer with the throttle. I was getting some surprised looks from far more modern cars by the end of the day, and a lot of comments on how well she was running. I checked the fluid levels after each run, but actually used no oil at all!

Here’s one towards the end of the day, when it all started coming together :)

I also got a drive in Pete’s mk3 – such a fantastic little car. So nimble! We're off to Blyton Park in a few weeks - can't wait :D

Hi ben , your car sounds awesome on track nice vids mate . Looking at the pics your body roll is less than that of Pete's mk3 is your car lowered .

Hi Gary,

Ye-es. it has aftermarket adjustable dampers and I guess around a -15/-20mm drop. It was all fitted in Japan though, so in all honesty I don't know exactly what's there.

The Whiteline ARBs are on a medium setting, I wanted to counteract some of the inherent bodyroll without compromising the predictability and making it too twitchy - think this is a good balance. It could go lower in all honesty, but as a complete all-round package I'm very happy with how it drives.

I do love the supercharger whine though :D

mine from the day
Hi.. noticed the weight quite a bit on track, especially as i didn't have my mate in the car this time...

Brakes were prefect as was the car.. it got hammered all day and never showed signs of anything other than wanting more,

running standard suspension and it was fine(yes in the pics a bit of body roll), was still more than enough to upset the bigger cars, and i managed to melt my front and rear tyres

Here is its last run with my mate in the car

you look at my channel the others are there too..

Looking forward to blyton on the 28th march..

loved it was a great track car. definatly made teh right choice with it
will get some bigger ARB's somepoint, and as its a budget track car unless i find some coilovers cheap ill get some springs for noe, cos lets be honest its all about having fun, no need to throw money at it.

and belive me i had a lot of fun doesn't have to be the quickest car..
