For the last 5 years or more i have had to concentrate on engine conversions, but now with the addition of more staff i am pleased to say we have opened our bodyshop again.

If you have any enquiries please get in touch, thanks Paul.

Hi Paul, I saw that you used to have typical prices for the typical bodywork jobs that mk1's need doing listed on your website. Are you going to update those prices or are they still ok?

Woodsport
20th December 2013, 06:47 PM
Hi Andy, i will need to revise those prices on my website over the weekend, i think they are about 4-5 years old.

Sounds good, debating wether to get some panels tidied on the mk3 (left door and rear bumper) in preperation to sell it early next year. After a couple of hundered miles I have decided its not bad but it isn't as good as the mk1 ;)

Good to know theres an mr2 specialist body shop local too

Since the rebirth of the bodyshop this is the first major project to undergo the Woodsport treatment, featuring our wide arches.

At Woodsport, there is only one level of finish and workmanship.

Nice work but you've left the washer jets and mouldings on. When the car gets older and water gets under the parts that haven't been scotched down correctly the paint will flake. We never leave scraper seals mouldings or jets in cars as giving a 5 year warranty on paintwork you cannot take any risks. When I worked at Aviva bodyshop it was a life time warranty so long as you stayed insured with Aviva, and boy do some people like to claim specially for places that haven't been touched.

Thanks, and everything you mentioned is at customers request , so colour coded jets and moldings... is that ok?

Thanks Ian.

Regarding painting over bump strips, i've done that on Mk1s for over 15 years and never once had paint lifting, in fact my cars are so thoroughly prepped that i never get paint peeling anywhere. The laquer completely seals them in anyway so there is no chance of water getting under the paint.

I must have painted dozens of Mk1s in my time and never once had an issue.

Pics from yesterday, polishing has begun....

Hi Paul,

What would be the turn around for my wing mirror cases and the door mounting bits? I can send you my side skirt triange for the paint match as well...

Woodsport
11th March 2014, 06:34 PM
As mentioned before Alex i cannot guarantee a paint match even if you send me part of the car, old paint is incredibly hard to match, so you would need to take a chance or not bother to be honest, i would do everything to try and match it but there are no guarantees.

Turn around time is 4 days.

Hi Paul.
Are the prices indicated on your website still good for bodywork?
I am looking to have some done and would love to have the work done by someone who knows their way around these cars properly.

Thanks

Chrys

Hi Chrys, as a rough guide yes those prices are close, it really all depends on how much snaps off, how bad the rot is, dents, welding and general pain in the butt stuff there is to do, these old cars are a nightmare, but yes i can help you.

Such a shame that its a 500 mile round trip for me to get it looked at! Id love to have you do it.
Would it be wise for me to take some pictures and send them to you?
I understand if its not worth the risk of long distance estimating.

Cheers
