Hi guys,

Iv'e been driving for 10 years and now fancy something a little different. Iv'e always had an eye on a Mk1 MR2 and now i think its come to a time where i can finally buy one!

I'm here looking for somewhere with a bit of knowledge and know how when it come to these cars. So i'm going to start by asking for advice on what to look for when purchasing one, and if anyone knows of a decent one for sale? Also no doubt, ill be asking for advice once iv'e picked one up! So any help would be much appreciated!

Iv'e seen these below.... Am i on the right lines?

Hello and welcome.
There are plenty of buying advice pages in the archives.
Good luck in finding one.

The red one seems pretty good from the limited info available.
Would be worth getting the arches sorted ASAP if you do buy it as they will only get worse.

I'll take a look around! When i first set up this account quite a few of the sub forums were not visible. I'll also have to find a general price to sort the arches! :)

This is probably the best MK1 buyers guide there is http://www.challoner.com/mr2/tech/mk1bg.html

Found that guide after a bit of searching. Seems quite comprehensive. I suppose i'll have to go searching for cars and go from there.... Most cars on here seem to be really well looked after and are above my price bracket. I figure rear arch work is about £500 for the pair after looking around - But an idea of what to expect in the first 12 months would be very helpful!

The arches will set you back a minimum of £800

There is a beautiful grey one in the for sale section at the moment. Pretty rare colour and it looks beautiful.
The price is higher than the ones you were looking at before though.

Can you link? I was looking for less that £2000 to be honest. Iv'e been looking quite seriously at this one;
