Dear Paul,

it is me "madcatwoman" again. Thank you for your previous advise on my MR2 about the stalling problem.
It is now rectified thank you.
Would it be okay to put premium super unleaded petrol in it? I am a bit worried that it may be too high an octane and may burn out valves or something. Although my car runs beautifully now, I like to put only the best of anything on my car. I have been told that super unleaded cleans the engine injectors etc., and helps it to run smoother.
What do you think?

I only use Super Unleaded in mine and have obviously not had any problems although mine is a Supercharger so originally a Japanese car and I think they have a higher octane rating over there.

I could be horribly wrong though, it has been known.

I cannot beleive it would ever damage a car though (except a diesel or LPG one)

It's worth sticking a tank-full of Super in it every so often as it has cleaning properties in it. Otherwise 'normal' unleaded is fine for UK cars :)

I put super in mine for a few weeks and other than emptying my wallet it ran a little bit smoother but that's about it.

You will find a Mk1 will lightly pink on anything lower than 97 Ron on factory timing.
