Hello All,

My name is Martin and I have recently aquired my first MR2, a T bar Mk1b. I have been a fan of the Mk1 for over 25 years since sitting in a brand new one at a motor show in the eighties as a spotty teenager.

I bought it from a friend in Dorset so had to make a fair old journey to pick it up as I live in Doncaster. Judging by the record of previous MOT's it has spent the majority of it's life in the South West.

It appears to have been a well looked after car until maybe 2 or 3 years ago when someone did a quick respray (over the original decals!). It has a bit of rot on both corners of the rear valance and a small piece on the drivers side rear arch. Both front wings are solid but have a couple of small dents that are repairable, all else looks fairly solid, although I've not dug too deeply yet.

At the moment I am up to my neck restoring a 1988 Mini so the MR2 is under a cover. Hopefully I will be able to start it in a month or so. I'll keep you posted.

Hi Martin, I live in Barnsley and Tom Mundy lives in Sheffield so if you need any help or advice just ask. We don't do much in the winter months but in the Spring there are loads of runs and we attend a few shows. Oulton park is a great weekend as is Tatton park, I hope you get a chance to attend a few events. Good luck with the restoration, if you want to have a look at my project thread it might be of some help or perhaps inspiration :D

I'm over in Worksop & just got our 7th MK1 (I think) it's just sat outside at the moment, not the weather to play with it, I suspect it needs arches but hoping to go 1.5 at some point if it's solid underneath.
