Hi, I have a 1985 mk1 I live in SW France and need to put it back UK registration, so it needs an MOT but possibly needs a bit of work to get it through? Anyone any ideas to assist me please if I get it over to the south coast by ferry, and any trustworthy garage who knows the Mk1, and a secure place to leave it if work needs doing, whilst I return to France, and return to collect it. I would appreciate any input please? The French do not recognise the homologation of this model so I cannot register it!!
Thanks a lot,
Cliff

There is a company called Kent car craft whom do a lot of work for members of other clubs on their mr2mk2's but I am sure they would carry out work on your car for you,not too sure of address and phone numbers but if you can't find them let me know.
Andy.

Hi sorry I am not used to computers and websites and how to use, etc! Can someone PM me and I can explain. I possibly need to bring the car over, MOT and leave for any work to be done in a secure place, then come over and pick it up, as I said I need to put it back on its UK plates. Too much to try and register in France!!

Hi Cliff

I live in Northern France and do a lot of my own work on the car.

Depending on how much work and what type of work, I usually take my MK1 to Kelsport Ltd in Ashford. Kelly is a MR2 specialist and knows the cars inside out. He rebuilds the 4AGE engines and is to a very high standard without costing the earth. He works near Ashford, Kent, so very easy from the tunnel. You can Google him and get his full details, but he is often not in the office as he is a one person operation, which is why he keeps his prices low.

He doesn't do welding, but I have a very good restoration welder nearby to Kelsport who is currently restoring my MK1.

Kind regards and best wishes for the New Year.

Lee

Hi Lee, Many thanks or that, very interesting, as I said I don't know of anybody in he south, and I have had my car in France for 7 years and trying to sort it out, but my wife has been very ill cancer 5 times so the car has been on the back burner! It is a shame because it is a lovely car, I need to get it looked at to see if anything needed then take it over to be sorted and then get it through the MOT! I need it to be kept safely whilst sorted then I could return to collect. If you have his email I would be obliged. Can you email me direct on cliffsylvia@gmail.com please!
Happy new year
Cliff

Hi all, Seems to have gone quiet! Hope all are well? Have had to get a new exhaust manifold gasket and 2nd hand manifold from TCB, just found an English bloke in France who will do it for 70euros, seems good to me! I think t.hen when that is sorted I may bring her over to UK and see about getting brought the MOT! Will check who is good near to a port so I can get over easily and stay reasonably while sorted.
Thanks everyone.
Best regards, Cliff
