* CAR NOW SOLD.

Hi all. Apologies for the off/ on again sale but have had another sit down and think and realistically, the car has to go. Details as before and below plus a link to Gary's original for sale thread here:

http://www.mr2mk1club.com/showthread.php?9171-mica-blue-t-bar-for-sale

Would be nice if it stayed in the club. Pics now added with link to loads more on Flikr taken today.

Details...

Nice 89 Mica (dark) blue T-Bar for sale. MOT until April 2013/ Taxed until November 2012. Approx 136k (in daily use at the moment). No advisories for the past 2 MOTs.

The car is well known to the club (formerly Kate's & I bought it from Gary over a year ago after he'd restored it) and is not messed with. Mostly original paint I think, bar the rear arches which have been repaired in the past. The car isn't showroom perfect because it's in constant use but is terrifically solid all over. Hopefully anyone who saw it on the Buxton run last month will vouch for how well it stands.

Oil/ filters/ plugs just changed (fully synthetic) and oil has been changed minimum of every three months in my ownership and will be done again for new owner. The car idles at about 800rpm (just adjusted)/ no gearbox issues/ engine still fit and strong. The drivers side T-Bar will dribble a bit after been stood all day in heavy rain but not much at all. I did some work on the seals & eccentric guides after I bought it and improved this problem significantly. Suspension is fully poly bushed. Other work includes recent replacement radiator and coolant flush and a new windscreen when a small chip turned into a crack when a bloody bird hit the windscreen on the A1.

Didn't mention last time but has a nice period Sony double din CD/ radio which looks just right.

If anyone is interested in more info, please give me a call on 07857 89six 32six or pm me on here. I can take photo's of any specific bits people might want so let me know.

Sale is only due to "growing family" reasons - I'll miss it very much. Serious enquries only please.

Cheers, Nick

Still for sale?
What MOT and tax are left on it?
Any advisories from last MOT?
Whens the next cam-belt change due?
Any rust and where? (I can see some bubbling on the rear arch in the pics and a bit of laquer peel of the rear bumper, but hows the rest of the car?)
My previous MR2s have rusted in the usual places ie arches, top of windscreen, under leading edge of bonnet, bottom of A & B pillers etc.
Been disappoined by some supposedly 'very good rust free MR2s' recently :-(
thanks
Michael

Good luck with sale and desperately hope it goes to a loved home. The stereo was down to me, ( or at least I think it is the same one). I put that in but never really knew how to work it.

If I had space I would buy this car back in a heartbeat.....

Hi Kate, no I fitted the stereo. Dunno what happened to yours. Gary must have snaffled it!

Ps you're welcome to buy it and store it at mine. Problem solved!

Going on holiday after this week and then the car will be advertised widely on return so if folks in the club are interested, now's the time to view. Thanks, Nick.

You're more than welcome Kate!

*Michael - tax and MOT details are on the first post of the ad and there have been no advisories for the past two MOTs while I've owned the car. That's not to say that there has been no work needed but that all needed work needed has been done. For the full asking price I will have the cambelt changed for the new owner (I hope to get this sorted in the next two weeks regardless).
Rust wise, the bubble on the rear arch is as pictured and is just surface - you can put your fingers under the arch and heave if you want - it's rock solid. There is laquer peel on the rear bumper (again as pictured) and there are a couple of bubbles on the top of the windscreen. The paint finish has also faded here. However I know it's solid as I had the windscreen changed by AutoWindshields a short time ago and if it's rotten there, they won't touch it.
As far as I am aware there is no structural corrosion anywhere on the car - I am often underneath it to check it and it is cleaned and reundersealed as required. The cosmetic bits are what makes the difference between this and a car which is twice (and more) the price - and I've seen a few of them that aren't as good as this one! It isn't perfect but it is original, solid and driveable everyday if you should want to. If people know their MR2s I think they will know this one is worth the money and probably a bit more.
I need more than two seats now - otherwise it wouldn't be for sale. Best, Nick.

Like it. Like it a lot.
Would have this if my TT would go.
(Don't suppose you want to do a trade with an Audi TT - its got four seats)

I think the insurance would kill me Michael. I'm sure they're very nice cars though.

No worries Nick.
It's a shame (for me) as I'll likely miss out on this little car due to not selling mine quickly enough.
Ahhh well, that's life

I was going to say 'you'll have to catch it first!' but bearing in mind what you have, that won't be an issue! I sincerely hope XLM will do me as proud as YLD has and that means doing Tatton and Oulton and all the north west club runs. It's to be my daily drive so watch out for it in, well, anywhere in the country really.
