Hello all. I am new to the forum.
I have owned several mk1 mr2s in the past. My favourite was always my 1985 electric blue mk1a with black bumpers.
I am now looking or another one in this colour.
Does anyone have one to sell or know of one for sale please?
Last year I saw one come up for sale with only a few thousand miles from new but it was expensive and I didnt have the money at the time. Anyone know if it sold or who's it is?
I may also consider another colour black bumper mk1a if it's a nice one.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Kevin. Thanks for the reply. I think you are right. I would consider one that needed work too if it was right.
There are hugely varying opinions on how many there were in this country. They seldom come up for sale though and many that do will have had the body kit added and the bumpers colour coded......oh well...we shall see.

My favorate colour too. I've got one, but i found it with not running gear. I'd let it go cheap to someone who wanted to restore it. But it needs a LOT of work!! Idealy it needs a donor car!! The shell is good. But front panels rotted away, rear subframes rotted away.

I think so mate, it was stunning. It was the chap I got the (still to be fitted) 1a spats from, he said he had had a few in this colour over the years, so there must be a few around, but never seen another one. Its possibly the one colour I would let my car go in favour of.

WELL.....GUESS WHAT! I may have found one!
It needs recommissioning (brakes, alternator, wheel bearings, serivce, collant change, checkover etc) and sills repairing as it has been in storage for a few years.
Anyone know of any good specialists or restorers in the essex/herts area that do not charge a fortune but do great work?
I could do it myself but don't have the time or space at present. I also have an old triumph i restored years ago that i am recommissioning at the moment.
The car is a long way away so is likely to cost a lot to trailer home but as it is the colour i want i may go for it and have it restored back to its former glory.
Here's hoping!

There are Dickersons and I have used them. The work is good, they are reasonably priced but they are not quick. They are painfully slow. My car had a complete new floor (apparently floors are optional for the Irish NCT - MOT equivalent) along with lots of other bits and pieces and the final bill was very reasonable but it was estimated a week's work but it took six weeks. However the work was good standard so if you have to compromise on something.... I would use them again and that has got to say something.
They are in Ashwell near Baldock on the Herts / Beds border just up the A1. If you go on a Saturday and I am around, I am happy to give you a lift afterwards.
Pictures of the car? Where is it?

Excellent. Thanks for the reply Kateg28.
Time would not be an issue for me...it would probably be more helpful if they took their time as i would not have to worry about winter storage for as long ;-)
The car is in scotland....this is the real spanner in the works for me. Getting it back could be very expensive.
Maybe i would be better to find someone to do the work near where the car is and fly up every now and then to check out progress....Im sure teh cost of towing it back here would buy a few easyjet flights to Glasgow - especially as i live very close to Stansted airport.
Im awaiting some pics to be sent..ill post one if possible.
I also found the paint code for this colour - apparently its 8B8

how is your electric blue search going ? i can honestly say i havnt seen one for years and that was at a show , i do however have to regretfully sell my baby , its an 86 grey white all oe never been modded motd taxd mechanically perfect , drives perfectly 90k miles if thats any use call me 07736841549 bob.
note the picture of the front valance it is rust! this was caused from it catching my trailer ramp and cracked the paint which started the rust , this damage is reflected in the cheap price although not major it does make me feel sad to look at as i always seem to have bad luck and this was an unnecessary accident.
good luck with your search

Hey bob.
I have not found one yet. Actually, I did but the guy went silent on me :-(
I had noticed yours up for sale actually. The white over silver sherwood is one of my other favourites. I have always been nervous of one though as getting paintwork repairs right can be hardness I have seen a few with dodgy curved paint split lines over the arches.
Looks like it needs a new front wing. Is this what you mean by the valance rust or is the front rusty too?
Whe are the other spots you mention?
I see you are looking for a spitfire...go on.....guess what my other car is?
I am just recomissioning it after being of the road 7 years since its restoration. I have had the car 20 years and was thinking of selling but may have second thoughts when I get it back tomorrow. Has stood me in at over 10k with the resto and improvements. I'll dig out some of the pictures from when it was magazine featured..
