Just a quick hello and introduction.

I have just acquired a '88 MK1 in need of a bit of restoration. I've been looking for a cheap little project for a while to learn basic mechanics and eventually welding, what better than a little MK1.

A little bit about me;
I have owned Mk2s for the last 5 years, a Rev 1, Rev 4 and finally a Rev 3 turbo, also I regularly attend Mr2OC events, so will have meet some of you before.

I have already started a few little jobs on the car trying to fix the handling.

That car looks identical to one I saw today.....

Hiya!
Good to see you over here and so glad my car is not the only Mk1 at the Milton Keynes MR2OC meets. When it starts that is...

Lots of info over here and look out for mk1dal's posts. He does a lot of welding and rebuild mk1s over a weekend. And I am being utterly serious.

See you soon!

Hopefully you can get the battery sorted.

This is the product I was talking about, Oxford Oximiser battery charger.

I have one fitted to my bike over the winter, basically it chargers and drains the battery on a continuous cycle to keep it working and charged when you need it.

For the MR2 it would be the Maximiser 3800 series, ( should be £50 or so - well worth it. / the smaller cheaper ones are only rated to 30Ah, so to small for car batteries, bigger one will cope with 125Ah )

Other makes are cheaper, but I tend to stick to the known brands.
