Hi Gary,

It's still not fixed. I really appreciate the offer of a dizzy, but you're about 2 hours round trip from me so I've been having a look for one a bit closer. I was also chatting to Paul Woods who was telling me it's not as easy to tell as just comparing them but he has one that he knows will work so I'm trying to get him to post it to me :) Hopefully once it's in my hands the car will be up and running.

If it's up and running on time then I'll be on the trip, but I don't want to get peoples hopes up.

Hi Alex,

It's about a 50 mile detour for me to go via Stoke on Trent from Sheffield, but if you can make your own way to the start point you're more than welcome to jump in with me! I'll leave it to you whether you want to chip in for fuel. Just buy me lunch and bring some in-car haribo if you like. :)

That's a shame about the pills, I guess you'll have to just enjoy the booooooooooooooooost! :D

Let me know if you'll be wanting the seat as otherwise I can offer it out.

Cheers,
Tom

@feegle and Rick - would love to offer but can't risk it, sorry! Not on the public road anyway, where any old numpty could pull out of a side road. At least if it happens with me at the wheel I'm properly insured! Not to sound like a tight Yorkshire-man feegle, but don't you still owe me for that exhaust from a couple of years ago? :)

Great day out yesterday, the roads were just what the MR2 was made for, particularly the last stage to Mold. Well done Bill! I only did 319 miles but that is probably more than the car has done in a day for many a year. Hope to make the Peak District run.

Glad to hear you all had a good run. I was thinking of you making the most of it - glorious sunshine for much of the day at home. Gutted to not be able to make it, but the night before, I found out why I shouldn't go - the inside of my distributor cap beggared the question 'how is she still running - at all?' See post on the mechanicals forum. To cast the widest net possible though - can anyone tell me the part number(s) for the bearing and 'dust seal' on the dist drive shaft that keeps the oil back from entering the distributor body? Toyota say they can't find such a part on their diagrams?

Cheers all and sorry to wander off topic

I had a great day out and it was nice to catch up with some old friends and meet some new guys n girls too. The weather was pretty grim to start off with but then it was glorious sunshine for the most part! Fantastic scenery, good well surfaced roads (if hindered at times by buses etc.) and a gaggle of Mk1's, what could be better?

Highlights of the day for me were:
1. Giggling at Kris in his Mk1a, which looked like loads of fun!
2. Resisting temptation to chase after that flame spitting elise
3. The run over the tops down into Mold - Dennis mentioned that he enjoyed watching me close up on the leading pack in his rear view mirror after they had a couple of minute head start, lol.
4. Good lunch!
5. Good chatting!
6. Erm... oh yeh, HUD FTW! :D

PS: Good to see that literally nothing will stop Bill getting out and about! :)

hi , top pics tom . i think for the peaks run i might look in to getting a on board camera , pictures never show the true fun we had on the twisty sections of the run ,they were awesome and it might attract more people for future runs . ps the camera will not be showing the clocks for obvious reasons

roll on the peaks run @ cris , get some more skid plates welded to your exhaust mate you will need them . i have been told of more rally stages which are top fun which i will include in the run . i have done some of them to test them for our cars and lets just say i got some 4 wheel air time ( pushing it a bit ) , awesome roads with no traffic very quick and twisty but safe for the less experience driver for this type of road .

@ gentleman and ladies who have participated in the Kent run get your self on the peaks run if would be a pleasure to have you and for you to experience the roads i take for granted which were built for the mk1 , a truly top day out which you shouldn't miss .

I have a little camera you can stick on the windscreen and powers off the cig lighter, it's a bit low res, but if you like I'll see if I can pass it along to you to borrow for the weekend.
