I have driven some of your amazing roads in New Zealand some 16 years ago, where are you living, if you are in the Auckland area look up the Hulme clan.
theres about 15 of them, in the Manurera area.
welcome to our club look up (woodsport) Paul woods has put a 4.2 v8 in one of his mk1s look up (twobrutal) also (www.imoc.co.uk)
Regards Bill.

Wellington, very nice :) Spent a good few months touring around New Zealand a few years back. Happy Days!

And I saw a few MK1's while I was there, including a stunning Mika Blue Supercharger in Dunedin but that's the wrong island so I guess that's not you ;)

I think New Zealand is the only place where there is an identical car to mine (apart from possibly in Japan, I can't search on Jap websites...........).

I normally like to encourage new members to some meets but it is a bit of a way for you so am a little stumped. Welcome to the community anyway!

Think I MAY have seen one like yours when I was in NZ but going the opposite direction on a freeway at the time. Didn't get a close look but it was red and a dark looking red at that. At that time I didn't even know red metallic MK1's existed so think I presumed it was just a re-spray job or just a very dirty Super Red one! ;)

Got to say tho, I think metallic red (Is it Mica Red?) is my new favourite colour for a MK1 :)

It is technically called medium red pearl I think but everyone calls it Mica Red, bit like the Mica Blue is actually called Dark Blue Pearl but everyone knows it as Mica Blue. Here is a link to the NZ one. there is a photo a long way down the page showing it next to a Mica Blue and they both look so stunning. When I was deciding whether to keep my old blue one or go red, this photo did NOT help. At all.

What I just found when confirming the name of the colour, was that you could also get a red interior.....

Mine is the standard dark grey cloth. Which I much much prefer.

Welcome to our Forum. Good to hear from the other side of the world. You Mk 1 interior is certainly unlike the UK models. Usually Grey/Blackish check Or Black leather, usually T bar. I think this reflects our differing weather!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a white mint Ex supercharger tin top with Woodsport modified 3 Lt 3VZ – FE Camry lump. Quite quick!!!! I do not have any photos yet will post them later.

Keep posting.
